Ended up buying a Meucci

After talking to a bunch of people and getting advice from a few guys and feeling a ton of different cues (production and custom cues) I ended up getting rid of my warped econo Action cue and got a sick deal on a brand new Meucci USA model. I was leaning towards a McDermott Sunrise with the G-core Shaft but it was gonna cost me another $100+ and the Meucci felt so much better in my hands. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who offered up their help and hope I shoot well with the cue tonight.
 
Good luck with it and remember if the cue is straight it will never miss a ball and shoots straighter then you. :wink:
 
Congrats!!!! I have had and played with my Meucci for well over 20 years I have hit with and owned others and always gone back.. Good Luck!!! :cool:
 
I bought a Meucci from a friend in 1992 for $350. I think he paid about $750 for it. I played pool with it off and on since then. When I moved here I took to playing again and noticed my shafts were warped. I guess I was out of the scene for awhile because I didn't know about layered tips and low deflection shafts until I noticed them on the internet.

Anyways, I bought a Predator 314-2 shaft for the Meucci and I love how it plays. But, I always wanted to try one of the black-dot shafts. I got a good deal on one in Ebay. I thought they were supposed to be 12.75mm. I measured mine at 12.6mm. Which is right about where my old shafts got
worn down to. I didn't think I was going to like it, but I actually like the way it feels and hits. I get a lot of the action and draw like a typical Meucci. Like some say, Meucci cues are whippy.

I have seen many complain how the shafts warp easy though, so I'll see how that goes. But I don't play with this shaft much anyways. I just got a Samsara cue and it's almost just point and shoot, then the ball automatically goes in the pocket.
 
I shot with it for the first time tonight. Took some getting used too, since my old stick had the Irish linen wrap and the Meucci I got is coated but after a few shots I was adapted. The only thing that threw me off with the cue was the weight. I got a 18.5oz but the guy didn't have any weight bolts to make it 19.5 like I am used too (the price on the cue was so awesome I couldn't pass it up). He is going to get me one and it should be just fine. It did shoot very very nice besides the minor inconvenience at first. I think I am going to love this cue for a long while
 
Although often frowned on here on AZB, there is nothing wrong with a Meucci, if you like it. I played most of the best pool of my life with a Meucci MO-7 and a Meucci sneaky. Back in the day, they were the cue of choice. I still know several extremely good players who play with Meuccis.

Stylez777...You missed out! The G-Core shaft is unbelievable...for me, it's the best playing shaft available! You can get one to fit your Meucci butt.

Good stuff, Stylez. I bought a Moochie with a bent pin pretty cheap on EBay
just for the heck of wanting to try one. Its well balanced, and use it for a backup cue. When I'm having a bad night with my main player, I pull the Moochie out. Works for me.

I like what I have read about the G-Core shaft and was very interested in picking up a Mcdermott with one. The big decision for me was feel/price. The Meucci I ended up buying brand new cost me $190 flat vs the Mcdermott with the G-core was running near $300. Comparing the 2 the Meucci felt the best in my hand and for the price I couldn't pass it up! Only thing I wish is my butt had the power piston technology but ehh I cannot complain.

I like a light cue--one of my cues is an 18oz. sneaky and I love it. Remember that adding a weight bolt will likely change the balance of the cue.

It would have been the first cue that I own but I got a real deal on a Lucassi and spent 3 years with it. I got around to buying a Meucci and I feel like I wasted 3 years of my pool shooting life. This Meucci isn't even a first it’s a second reject and it is the best stick in my arsenal. I thought that I could do better and put together a Nick Varner Sneaky Pete with an OB-2 shaft but I was wrong again and went back to my Meucci after being down in a tournament. It was like going back to an old girl friend that had your best interest at heart and never should have left in the first place. Well I put a kamui black SS on I am back in love with my Meucci never to leave again.

I was looking at the Kamui black tip when i got the cue. The guy said he could put one on for me for $15. I decided to not do it at that time and wanted to see how the cue played as is. I am still considering going back to him when i pick up my weight bolt and ask him to do it. I've heard great things about the Kamui black tips, just not sure if for me personally I'd notice a difference shooting with it or not compared to the stock tip that come son the black dot shaft.

don't know exactly but it suppose to be the design of the butt that gives more power with less effort or something like that you can read up about it at Meucci website. prob all BS advertising though
