Enough is enough -- shut up or put up

What does age have to do with this again?

When you say that I'm "hurting" Chris, it sounds like you think he's a juvenile. I can testify that Chris is a grown man and does not easily get rattled or "hurt".

I used to start my practice session by setting it up exactly like pickle and I would move on to something else as soon as I had drawn one length of the table. Watching Pickle really humbled me.

Then someone put a video of Larry Nevel in this thread doing various stroke shots and when he set the cue ball right up near the end rail and the object ball at the other end of the table and drew the cue ball the full length of the table to make a ball in the corner pocket ONE HANDED I contemplated suicide.

I know never to bet on another man's proposition but if Larry Nevel proposed that shot to me I would have bet whatever he wanted.

Purd, you are but one of many who have cleaned my clock. Hope we had a good time, and a cocktail afterwards.

Yeah, but it's a dumb saying. Without the ability to draw well, the game is reduced to mundane quality.

If someone can show a draw stroke that can draw the ball 15' or more (say, 7' CB to OB plus 8' of draw, for example), that should be commended, not pooh poohed.

Personally, I'm damned glad that the one or two times that I had to pull off a big power draw shot in a tournament, that I actually knew I could do it.

That ability to power draw says something about the ability to execute medium level draws. The reverse isn't true.

Exactly Cornerman... A player who can draw a couple table lenghts can draw one length without hitting the cue ball very hard with a smooth stroke. Anytime I have to use my max english on the cue ball, there is much bigger chance for error.

Drawing a bal up and back? Wow. I mean Wow! That is scary awesome. Can he jump a ball, too? Cool. I can't put up against that.

Note to self. Anyone who lets the cueball go for show, try and get down to play with them. Gotta try it.

I am a whole country away, so I won't woof. But, I don't get the point. Put up or shut up what? Ah f#%$ it. If you're ever in the Carolinas, my friend will put up against your friend. Oh, wait a minute. That sounds juvenile. I will try your friend some, and you too. You didn't think you were gonna come on here and issue a vague blind challenge not get some negativity, did you?

Great Draw Stroke!!! I have been trying to do that same draw all my life. My hat is off to you and your friend Chris.

Na -- the hat should only be off to Chris, the only thing I did was twisting his arm to get him do the shot on video.

Peer, I see you guys are from Palo Alto. My wife was head of the
nursing staff at Stanford Medical Center. Population then was about
20,000. Has it grown a little since then ???

I was clocked in Vegas a couple years ago at just under 30mph on a bar table with one of Sardos junk sticks. I bench 300lbs give or take 5lbs on either side of 300.

Is this supposed to be impressive? You also look like you weigh 300lbs + or - 5lbs...

1) Not a very impressive bench
2) Not at all related to breaking ability
3) Another worthless attempt at internet toughguyism...

Look at everybodys favorite SVBs build vs. his break...

And yes since I'm barking, I'd gladly have a bench competition with you if we're dividing the results by body weight.

What is the point of this thread again?

I don't know what all the discussion is about. The guy hits a GREAT SHOT over and over again at mach 7. When I get up the courage to hit a ball at mach 7, I expect some great, possibly destructive things to happen, too.

I was thinking the same thing. This is silly. I'm a forty, almost forty one year old man that weighs 210. I'll spot this fella fifty or so on the bench, and I break like a biaaatccch.

Too often I see people on this forum making all kinds of claims (usually about their superlative skills, etc.) Most recently was okinawa77's amazing draw skill:
> The best I have done it 18 feet (2 table lengths) on a 9 foot table.
> I can consistently draw full table on 9 footers, and about 50%
> consistency on 1.5 table lengths.

So last night, while me and my buddy Chris (aka "bumpypickle" who might be a strong APA 4) were bullshitting, I got my video camera and captured a few of Chris' draw-shots... and I just put the result up on YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqCPqYJ30zo

Hence, it's time to either shut up or put up.

This is why the APA is a bit of a joke. No 4's around here are going to be able to draw back two feet let alone what he is doing.

I shoot pool in the Bay Area. I will come down to Shoreline and play you some $100 sets if you like. I will put up....will you??? I'll play your friend too. We can even video tape it, and you can put that up on you tube. You put up or shut up:rolleyes:

I will come down to the Bay Area, California Billiards or Shoreline, & play some one pocket with either or both of you. Make the bet right for the trip. Last trip down there cost me $700 to Lettuce Larry. John

Oh yea, I think nowadays Stanford is just shy of 20,000 students/faculty, and then the city of Palo Alto is another 50,000 or so.

I'm sure if Chris could video himself and knew how to put it up on YouTube, he would do this all by himself. Unfortunately, he does not. In fact, at the time when he pointed me to the thread where okinawa77 claimed he could draw two table length, Chris wasn't even a member of this forum.

In any case, you guys need to lighten up. You see, Chris being an APA 4 is just an inside joke for us who know how brilliant player he really is. Besides, smilies are for pussies.

So again -- to all you pussies -- you need to put up or shut up ;^)

-- peer

I retract my previous statement, no one let me in on the inside joke.

According to a Google search, he's not a 4, but a 7, for whatever that is worth. (I don't think this post could be considered knocking due to the circumstances and the fact that it's public info ;)).

Bumpy Pickle, thanks for answering my question about the ball set.

PM sent about matching up at California Billiards. No drawing contests:confused: ...just 9 ball, 10 ball, or one pocket.

Oooh Hoooo!!! Action at my pool hall!!!

From what the railbirds are saying I'm going to like playing you. $100 sets are fine by me. Maybe we can have a drawing contest also. How about $100 for every diamond the loser loses by?

If you ever are around Florida, Pm me. You can get action!

Well, I am also tired of all the silly talk and not backing it up. All you playas that are really posers need to put up! Show ME your video of how good you are. I bet my "buddy" can beat you. Any amount, you name it.

Just to prove to you how bad you are and how good I am through my buddy, here is a video of someone I once saw IN PERSON - aka my "buddy." So, if you don't have the ability to put up, well then step off and shut up. Now watch my "friend" show you how good I am since I have a picture with him. A real picture with me and him. Now put up.
LINK HERE TO ME PUTTING UP

Pick either "buddy" - they'll both play you!

========================================
See, it does sound silly.
