td873 said:Anyone else notice the irony here? I mean, seriously, should I just hunt for a "friend" that can draw 3 lengths so that I can say that I "put up"?
Neil said:For starters, I didn't SAY he cheated. I said it sure looked like it. When I freeze-framed it the cueball sure looks smaller than the 12. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. I really don't care.
I guess I just don't see why you are so upset. So Chris can draw a long ways with no accuracy. So what? What does that prove that I'm missing??

cubswin said:guess my question is why do I want to draw a ball that hard?
champ2107 said:Not sure what the big deal with the draw shot is?
LoGiC said:I was thinking the same thing. Only real use for a stroke or shot like that would be betting againt some local drunks you could do it and see how much you walk away with i guess?![]()
td873 said:Basically, it means having one skill: drawing the ball. Pool isn't about one shot.
Neil said:So he can draw it a ways. Big deal. Lots of guys can. Unless you are doing trick shots, it usually means you got out of line and don't know how else to get back in line. Not really a point to brag on. So Chris can draw a long ways with no accuracy. So what? What does that prove that I'm missing??
cubswin said:I'm still trying to understand what the big deal is, and what it is this proves. A shot with no use at all, no control, and not all that hard for most people.
My whole point was to illustrate that it is odd to start a whole thread to call out a user [okinawa77] for not having skills, and then not use your own skills to call him out. You accuse okinawa of hiding behind his name and making claims about his skills. But then you run and get your friend to show him up. IMO, this looks more like a playground scenario where a bully calls someone a name and that person runs to get their brother to stick up for them.if you guys sincerely doubt that a power draw-shot is useful to, for example, break up balls or for position play, maybe this video will enlighten you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oI1Q-8nfiBk
Love, peace and understanding.

> The best I have done it 18 feet (2 table lengths) on a 9 foot table.
> I can consistently draw full table on 9 footers, and about 50%
> consistency on 1.5 table lengths.

It's true that your friend can draw like a demon, but by your own admission he is only an APA 4. And then you state you wish you played as good as him. It's like saying "okinawa show me your draw, and since I can't do it either, here is a video of my friend." I don't think this is achieving your purpose.
Besides, IMO, those people that have "real" pool skills are on the circuit or on the road and not playing APA.
Peer said:Hey, SJDinPHX, what's your real name -- Larry Guninger..?! How does it feel being so full of it? (full of envy, among other things).
As I said, put up or shut up.

Cuebacca said:Sometimes on old ball sets, the cue ball does tend to be warn down a little. So even if it is a red circle, it could be older and smaller due to wear. At the campus pool room where I went to college, I used to use an extra stripe as a cue ball, because the actual cue balls were so old that they were super easy to draw, and harder than normal to follow.

Here's a freeze frame at 1:27 into the video, where I hold the cue ball next to the object ball. Neil, please tell me which one is larger.
As I said, put up or shut up.

Actually, he was known as San Jose Dick and is a bit of an underground one pocket legend. You can watch him play Cliff Joyner 1-P on an old Accu-Stats match; I think he wins. He might have been wrong about the snooker ball thing, but he was one hell of a player.
Edit: Dick beat Joyner 4-3 at the 1998 World One Pocket Championship. You can still buy the tape on Accu-Stats
Peer said:I'm sure if Chris could video himself and knew how to put it up on YouTube, he would do this all by himself. Unfortunately, he does not. In fact, at the time when he pointed me to the thread where okinawa77 claimed he could draw two table length, Chris wasn't even a member of this forum.
In any case, you guys need to lighten up. You see, Chris being4 is just an inside joke for us who know how brilliant player he really is. Besides, smilies are for pussies.
So again -- to all you pussies -- you need to put up or shut up ;^)
