Last I talked to Eric he was spending time with his wife and kids. As to orders and cues I dont have the faintest idea about what he is doing or planning.

I did tell him that if I was him I would finish all work in the shop and that had any money paid up front then nicely tell everyone with an order that I was retiring from the cue business. Then make whatever in the hell he wants when he feels like it and sell it through a dealer. More of an artists take on cues than a business man's if you will.

I miss him around here too but I wouldn't blame him if he never comes back.

what you people do not understand is cuemakers have a life. they probally can not make it without a day job.and that spreads their time thin.

I heard from a friend that Eric will not take anymore others for now. He has even returned some deposits, at the same time he is finishing up on cues owed. He will not quit making cues entirely but will be selective of what he makes and for whom.
Again this is what i heard but i could be mistaken.

Bob,

A lot of the good folks who frequent this section repair or build cues themselves, or at the very least understand the economics of cue making. Not sure where the hostility is coming from but please let's keep this a civil thread. Thank you.

damnn:frown: he is so young to retired. Plus his work is top notch...

right now i've got two piece of good wood ( Kayu Ulin ), that is the name of the wood...this wood is very very hard and only found in Borneo..i'm planning to give this raw blank to Eric and Murray...two cuemaker that i know got a lot of knowledge about wood...Now, i don't know what to do..i heard Murray's mother is not very well and he is looking after his moms and now Eric is not taking any order.... well, maybe i will keep it for a while then...

By the way.....thanks everyone for the information....especially JCIN and JIVE ...thanks for both of you....

anyone got Erics contact number...i will be very happy if anyone can share it to me...:)

Hi,

Eric has built great cues and built a great brand in Sugertree. With all of his family commitments and his wife still serving I can imagine how hard it must be to build and finish cues as it is time consuming to say the least.

I would hope that he continues to make cues if even at a limited production when his family is in a more stable position concerning her service to our country and overseas commitments.

As Mark Twain stated, "If one wants to make something more expensive, make it unattainable".

I am sure that Eric will be able to charge more money for his cues and be super selective about the customers he wishes to build cues for in the future. So in the long run he will benefit from his current situation. His cues have value and he has many fans. IMO

Every cloud certainly has a silver lining and I hope Eric will continue and realize this silver lining effect.

Rick
