I don't know why( ESPN ) "ESPN STAR" IS NOT AVAILABLE HERE IN THE STATES. ESPN STAR IS AVAILABLE IN ALMOST ALL OTHER COUNTRIES, EVEN CANADA. THE PEOPLE THAT DON'T KNOW, ESPN STAR CARRIES LIVE POOL ALL OVER THE WORLD,MUCH LIKE BASEBALL-FOOTBALL HERE IN THE USA, BUT NO POOL HERE. I THINK WE SHOULD ALL SEND A MESSAGE TO ESPN AND ASK THEM TO MAKE ESPN STAR AVAILABLE TO ALL OF US IN USA. POOL IS HUGE OVERSEAS, AND THERE IS NO SHORTAGE OF LIVE POOL EVERYWHERE AROUND THE WORLD.....TELL THEM WE WANT ESPN STAR

It looks like the programing is geared to European interests. I don't think too many cable companies will be ordering a channel featuring cricket.
Perhaps they can make it available for streaming at some point... that would be far easier for ESPN than trying to get it onto US cable.
And with the recent upswing in interest in soccer, perhaps more European content is on the way at some point. We can find soccer on many US sports channels now, far more than just a couple of years ago, even in a non-world cup year. ESPN, Comcast and NESN all carry European league soccer now, in one form or another. Perhaps that demand might foster more thought about bringing Star to the US.

my main gripe with directv (specifically because that's my provider of choice, but also comcast - my girl's provider of choice, and all other companies for that matter) is that i get a boat load of programming forced on me that i don't want and i can't get any programming i do want. i neither need nor want over 10 shopping channels, 10+ religious channels, more than 5 spanish staions, a few asian language stations and a middle east channel.
i can't get espn classic or the out door channel unless i buy the most expensive package directv or comcast offer. espn star is not an option even with the most expensive package.

I called 'em Joey to ask if there were any plans to make ESPN Star available here in America. I was on hold for 10 minutes & then just hung up. Hopefully, the delay was from the AZBers all calling in! I'll try again later.
This is where the Guinness 9 Ball & Philippine Open tournaments are broadcast. Guinness (formerly the San Miguel 9 Ball Tour) does not have as many events as they nce did, but when they do, the field is stacked with Asia's best. I've long bemoaned that we can't receive this channel here.
Of all the channels that are available here, I bet I only watch 10 of them.

I've worked for ESPN Star Asia many times now. They've done some great events that I wish we could see over here. I'd love to see them myself at least once. :smile:

These are both premiere events put on by Matchroom Sports. Maybe if enough people call and write to ESPN here in America they will begin to air these shows. The World Cup and the Mosconi Cup are simply the best pool events televised each year! I KNOW there is a market here in America for these shows.

They finally answered. They said they would transfer me to Customer Service TV and gave me the phone number of 888 549-3776. Got transferred and they have a 15 minute wait. Chose option for them to call me back...
Try calling the Customer Service TV number for ESPN and tell them about how an AMERICAN event is being broadcast on ESPN STAR but not here in the U.S.
WOW! The TV Customer Service actually answered their phone and I spoke for quite a while, discussing ESPN STAR covering the U.S. event www.us9ballchampionships.com and the rep was quite understanding and promised to forward this information to the appropriate parties. He also mentioned that he would be able to tell me if this event would be broadcast or re-broadcast by ESPN after it got closer to the October date. I told him, that ESPN STAR broadcast this event live last year and that ESPN did not and that ESPN most likely would not broadcast this event again this year unless some changes are made.
I emphasized that this is the PREMIERE 9 ball INTERNATIONAL event and that players from all over the world come to compete.
He promised to get information to the proper parties. I gave him my telephone number and name and asked them to call me if they wanted any questions answered. I was polite and nice the whole time as I learned that if you want to *****, ***** very nicely if you want a positive response.
OK, I've done my duty, what about the rest of you. One person's phone call isn't going to get the job done.........

I agree with everything you said. We had dish network for years and I got tired of paying for thing I didn't watch. We cancelled it and bought an antenna to watch over air network broadcast channels. It has been over two years and I don't miss it at all. I wouldn't mind having espn, but other than that I am saving $80 a month.

Well, guys let me know if i'm exaggerating if anything but I will let you know how I feel about ESPN coverage when it comes to pool, and I'm not sure if its just me or anybody else has suffered from this, its really annoying for me to the point where when watching pool that theyre capturing, I almost scream one day, it seems to me that the director who is responsible for these events has nothing to do with pool, and its my personal believe that he doesn't know exactly how the game works, because what I saw was a guy changing the camera so much, I mean like crazy, with zoom-ins and close-ups, sometimes it really hurts my eyes and makes my eyes bleed.
I understand that each individual has his own perspective of how he likes things to run, but for me I really admire accu-stats and how they capture a game, because when you see the game, you are sure to not miss anything on the particular shot, when I watch accu-stats I will 100% see the cueball and the object ball, and the player whilest he stroke the shot, and how he struck it, and then I will watch the reaction of the cueball and how it re-acts with the rails and the whole table, on ESPN you will miss one thing or another, the director of ESPN keeps zomming in to the player EYES for instant, so close to his Eyes and we won't be able to see the cueball or the object ball or the stroke, sometimes he goes into an angel of the pocket where you only see the object ball, and not the stroke or the rails where the cueball would re-act afterward, you might miss that, and the thing is he uses those camera's for every single shot, I mean the whole match you wouldn't see a complete shot from the Main camera, sometimes I don't know where the cueball barked, or how is the object-ball is positioned in relation with the cueball.
and for me this is really irritating and frustrating while watching the game I love, with ESPN camera-swap fetish and close-ups, it can kill a matchup for me, maybe some people likes it, but not me.
I know that they are a rich network who can afford alot of camera's, and its nice to have side views, or angels from pockets, but use them wisely, Not on every single shot, for once I hoped they keep the main camera for 2mins only, but no, he wouldn't leave it.

JoeyA...In our eyes, yes the US Open is the premiere AMERICAN 9ball event. However, in the real world, that title would belong to another WPA event...and that's why they simply don't care. Think about it...the WPA World 9ball tournament is televised worldwide (except here)...the Mosconi Cup is televised worldwide (except here)...the recent China Open was televised worldwide (except here). No mens pool event here is televised at all, let alone worldwide.

I want to thank everyone who make efforts to try and get Espn Star here in America. I watched the Mosconi Cup live online in Dec last year :Sky Sports did a great job for FREE !!! There was a moment at the end of the Mosconi Cup that I thought it was funny: Darren Appleton jumped up on the Pool Table shoes and all and was celebrating, but most people never got to see that, and it was live. I set up a free account with Sky Sports. They also show a ton of Sports...Pool being one of them. Maybe some of you fans might want to try Sky Sports. I really do hope by emails and phone calls to Espn, that in the future we convince ESPN to give us ESPN STAR...................thanks for your support everyone in doing their part trying to get the huge covering of Pool around the world,..via..ESPN STAR...by the way, Sky Sports, even had betting lines on all the players and was laying odds..( I'm 99% sure that Canada receives Espn Star )

I agree with you in most of your point, Espn here in the states do not handle it well, as far as seeing the whole match. I have not seen much of Espn Star, but I think they do a great job, because they broadcast all of this LIVE POOL, and I would like to think that Espn Star puts on a quality show, not like our Espn
