Actually, I assume MOST men don't wash after even peeing. I have seen a lot of guys come out of the bathroom still sporting blue hands. Just gotta go wash up after you shake hands. :(

I just remind my opponents I'm a plumbing contractor as were shaking hands.....I"m sure all kinds of nasty things come to mind, and yes, most of them are true!:)

plumbers rules...

>poop runs down hill
>payday is Friday
>don't bite your finger nails!

I hear the sound of Milwaukee's Best beer cans falling from the sky! Come on, y'all! Just shake the opponent's hand, excuse yourself, and go straight to the bathroom to wash your hands. After all, as PKM pointed out, we have all fallen victim to that circumstance many times without knowing it.

I agree. That aside, I can't understand. I like to keep my hands clean when playing. I often find myself going to the john just to wash my hands.
A clean & dry bridge hand is good for your game.

And then there are those that wash 'before' their business. Lipsky should of followed his opponent in the bathroom immediately to get the proper information before his assumption.:D

I'd claim to be a little under weather, and suggest that a handshake might not be a good idea, as I'd rather not spread my germs. I'd then make numerous comments that show good sportsmanship and respect for my opponent.

I'd grab him by the forearm, and raise his arm into the air ala Strickland. What the hell? He just beat the best. :)

No telling how many times we have shaken hands with folks that have had theirs terrible places. Shake hands and go wash up!

This is what I would do, also. If the large crowd wasn't around, I might do something else, though.

Shakes his hand. You already have already shared the on the bathroom door handle, the rails, chairs, table and assortered other stuff. :D

shaking hands is good. Being mildly sociable is better. Harassing the person out of fun could get you hurt.

If he wins, start to clap in an appreciative manner. This always looks like good sportmanship. Then clap him on the shoulder a few times, look like you really are happy to see him win.

Then, when he offers you his hand, feel free to scream at the top of your voice "It's still wet!!!"

i can't believe i just read this entire thread steve :D i now have to know how this came about? and to answer the question, i think i would have said something in the bathroom before leaving, but that is just me :p

Right, your going to be in a men's bathroom applying etiquette. :D

Maybe a pat on the back or some other acknowledgement, but if I * knew * he'd not washed like that, I'd find a way to avoid the handshake.

Just shake his hand so that so that you don't look like a poor sport to the crowd(they didn't see what you had seen.) Go wash your hand no matter who you play. I played my first tournament ever this weekend and when I went to shake my opppnenets hand prior to the lag his hand was so sweaty I had to excuse my self to go wash and dry my hands. He was giving me a strange look when I told him I had better go to the bathroom before we started but I wasn't going to shoot with a wet nasty hand.

Just give them the old "closed fist bump" handshake.

I'll bet that half of the readers do not understand what this poll is about!!!
