Have any of you browsed youtube searching for pool instructional videos? I have, and I have to say: There is a LOT of crap out there! Some videos by expertvillage are incredibly bad, not only bad quality but dead wrong as well! I have been temtped to post rebuttal videos many times. Just look at some of this crap:

I am in the process of making a straight pool rules video in my search I came across this:

There are some expertvillage videos by Roger Long that are good, and another guy which are mixed in quality (but not terrible like the others).

Also some kids that probably meant well have some videos out, that I won't comment on. They probably don't have a lot of views, and I don't want to criticise kids for loving pool, obviously.

So now you know: In order to get draw, do not lower your bridge and keep level, elevate the butt with a high bridge...:(


Maybe we should have a community project among Az'ers to put some good info out? What do you think?

Will have to go check it out.. I know I generally shake my head at many of the videos even from the better sites so this should be good for a laugh....

Oh wow. Huge thanks for the laugh. That closed bridge and hovering palm open bridge was enough to get me to watch the next video "how to shoot the ball" and I had an even bigger laugh. The guy's concept of left English was that it goes left off the object ball. Then he demonstrates draw and hits a stop shot "I think there's a name for that too, where it stops the ball" Ha!
 
I'm at work and watched part of the first one with no sound. I'm pretty sure my coworkers in the neighboring cubicles could hear me laughing....Watching that closed bridge with that guy looking so serious is just too much to take....

Wow that as funny! The first guy with the bridges actually looked like he had a smooth stroke. That seems out of place with his "air bridges".

The second guy with the "draw back" shot was amazing. He had another video on "left english" that was just as good. lol.
 
Lately I have been feeling insecure about my bridge hand because I sometimes let my thumb bend out a bit at the joint and it hurts my stability.

After watching that first video I feel MUCH, MUCH better about my closed bridge. Thanks, Expert Village!
 
I expected this thread to pay dividends for at least two days. Did anyone else watch the other videos?

I noticed he instructed on how to hold your drink with your grip hand so as to not get moisture on "the stick"....He said treat the pool table like it's a woman and finesse her on every shot as he slow rolled everything....Then he described "a table scratch" as hitting the three before the two while playing nine ball.

These were all extremely important elements that I couldn't find in Dr. Dave's YouTube videos. :p
