F/S Joe Porper model B lathe

Paul as I told you in pm my husband is in the hospital. I did tell him yesterday, you wanted a refund and he said that's fine. As soon as he gets out of the hospital he will take care of it. May

May,
I appreciate the response however I would think that since you have access to his AZ account he would allow you to refund the money and not continue to make me wait on the refund any longer since I did pay him 12/26/2012 and it's been one excuse after another. I don't like the fact that this has become such a touchy subject but since I have waited so long, I will give it until 3PM EST today, if I don't get a full refund I will start with fraud charges through my CC company. Not trying to be a jerk in any way but i have been patient long enough and now my patience is gone.

Randy's right. Miscommunication and misunderstandings happen, but are easily resolved with an email or a post on the forum.
What happened between Randy and I was a simple paypal screwup, resolved very quickly with a couple posts and emails. It was that easy, and now ancient history.

Dave, you have always seemed like a stand-up guy.
We all know stuff happens....Why not just fire off a post or an email and tell the OP what's up? It sounds like he's been in the dark a while now.
Too busy (or whatever}to get the shipping together(it happens!)? Just tell the guy what's up.

Robin this is Dave's wife we have pming with Paul the whole time. Dave is in the hospital, and he said he would refund Paul's money as soon as he gets out. May

May- Wow! That's bad news. I had no idea!
I had a little health difficulty myself recently...it's no fun.
I hope Dave gets out of the hospital (erk!) soon and gets back up in running condition.

It sounds like the lathe deal can still be worked out to everyone's satisfaction.
A nice clean used Porper B does not come up for sale every day; I waited forever for mine years ago.

It sounds to me like the OP still wants to do business, but is reasonably concerned about his $$$ because of the lengthy delay.

I'll bet the deal can still go down if everyone is cool and the angst over money is corrected. Refund 'til Dave's OK, then proceed as planned.
As I said, these lathes are not a dime a dozen.

I'm glad everyone concerned is in communication.

Sorry to hear he is in the hospital and glad it is going to get sorted out to everyone's satisfaction...

Tell Dave that I send my wishes for him to be well.

However, communication is Key when dealing with that amount of money.
I just bought a lathe a month or two ago from Jimmy from Fla. He kept the lines of communication open and checked in with me every couple of days.

It was only 1000 but still, a lot of money for me.

When you have a positive experience like I did, I wouldn't hesitate to deal with Jimmy again for just about any amount.

You have one guy thats not feeling well but you have to consider that you also have another guy that may be sweating bullets and wondering if he sent his money into oblivion.

We live in an age of lap tops and cell phones too.

Glad you guys got it fixed up because that is a well cared for lathe. I always wanted one but with 4 now, I do believe that the War Dept. would be putting her boot somewhere most uncomfortable.

May,
I guess the hospital decided to keep him because you said he was getting out today and I haven't received a refund as of 1210am 1/18/2013 EST. Like I said before, I hate he had the flu but enough is enough. Glad I went ahead and called the bank. Regardless as to what you tell everyone else, I've had to go a week at a time before hearing from you, you haven't been PM'ing me the whole time as you say, truth be known I've been chasing you for details about this transaction only for it to come to more useless words on your end. And to answer your question, I started posting details about this transaction in the thread to allow other people to know how shady this deal has become in hopes they won't have this happen to them and be wary.
Thanks,
Paul

I have no idea why this thread made me think of this old Viennese folk song but now its stuck in my head.

Oh, my dear Augustine
Augustine, Augustine,
Oh, my dear Augustine,
Everything's gone!

Money's gone, man is gone,
Everything's gone, Augustine!
Oh, my dear Augustine,
Everything's gone!

From Dave:
Lathe is SOLD

Thanks
Dave

Whats going on here? Using the same phone. Is Dave pretending to be his wife? Two of the same phone, then there is no excuse for any lack of communication.

Has he been in the hospital all 3 weeks???

According to May, he was in the hospital for a week due to having the flu. I talked to Dave via PM 1/9/13 and he said it was packed and ready to go and he was waiting on YRC to pick it up.

I think Dave has a split personality.

HMMM....just got a PM from May stating Dave gets out of the hospital Saturday and he will give a full refund, then ship the lathe, and allow me to pay after I receive it. What a standup guy:rolleyes:

If that deal does not work for you and I understand your caution I might be interested in buying the lathe. Been a month or better since I bought one.

Tom,
I just got another PM from May stating Dave gets out of the hospital on Saturday instead of yesterday like they originally stated. Regardless at this point my opinion of Dave and his lathe aren't all that great but if he would rather sell you the lathe rather than me, I'm all for it as long as i get my money back. i was only buying the lathe as a spare for mobile setup, I bought a new porper the middle of december. I have this hinky feeling a guy who lives 1 1/2 hrs away from him said I'll drive up there and pick it up so you don't have to pack and ship it,and he accepted. Originally because of his website that was up and running a week ago he stated in his bio he lived in Texas, now his wife is saying they live in Illinois, so who knows, this is my first and last time dealing with the guy and his BS.

If you look at post #5 in the above thread you will see Dave and the lathe in his new shop! (Pekin,Ill.).

Personally I think a guy 1 1/2 hours away from him said he would buy it for the same price he sold it to me for and you won't have to crate and ship it, and Dave sold it to them after he sold it to me. But I've been wrong before.
