Far out stuff.

I was just thinking about how gripping the cue with just the smallest amount of pressure changes the way you hit the cue ball and the accuracy of the hit on the object ball.

If my hand could not close beyond a certain amount; basically the initial comfortable hold that you have on a cue when you first pick it up, I think that I might never miss a ball. Yeah, I thought you'd think that was far out.

Have you got one?

I was thinking about guys with one leg shorter than the other and how they always run in circles. If one of those guys was to rob a bank and take off running, all a cop would have to do is wait out in front of the bank for him to come back. It's not pool related, but it's still pretty far out. :)

Interesting

Joey,
I like your esoteric thinking.

As for myself, I've found thru trial & error that on long straight in shots where there's over 3 feet from the cue ball to the object ball & then several more feet from the object ball to the intended pocket, if I grip the butt of my cue about 40%-50% tighter, than I do on normal shots, my accuracy on that particular shot increases dramatically than if I shoot it with regular pressure on my back grip. It's to the point that it's now incorporated into my particular style of shooting now, i.e., it's automatic that I grip tighter on the long shots.

What's neat about our own idiosyncrasies that we've picked up or developed is that they work on us but not necessarily with others.

That was funny.

Tramp, let me ask you this...How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are?

I had a guy come up to me that's a regular gambler at my pool hall and say that he's never seen anyone in his 50 years of playing pool that has as loose of a grip as I do. He asked where I learned it and I told him that I tried it out after watching Filipinos play when I first started a few years ago. He said, "It just felt right, huh?" and I told him, "the second I tried it, I knew it was." Needless to say, its funny watching people who have played for much longer that can't draw the length of a table when an object ball is in the jaws and a cueball is near 9ft away. Thanks Busty.

Figure out what that pressure point is...then have a grip handle made that if squeezed tighter than that pressure point send an electric shock through your hand and arm that stops you from squeezing any tighter...

Problem solved....

You know.. they tried to test Cheetas speed by putting them on a race track for dogs. The plan was to release the mechanical rabbit then time the Cheetas speed compared to other animals. But the Cheetas were too smart for the scientists. They simply waited for the rabbit to come back around the track.

That's interesting Terry. I suppose if you had a tight grip the whole time on the long shots then you could theoretically expect to hit the cue ball in the same spot that you are aiming at, since you grip doesn't change.

It may not make any difference just as long as the grip pressure doesn't change during the shot.

Do you think I could get some pool action if I dressed up as a mime?

Another thing...

I was thinking about doing some hustling on the road with some of my road dawgs.

1. Do you think we could some action?
2. Do you think if someone I-snapped us, could they identify who we were?
3. Should we take along a psychiratrist to keep us out of the hoosgow?

:-)

If there are no pics, it didn't happen. :D

Here's something that I tried to remember every morning when I wake up.

If a guy in a wheelchair is chasing you with a knife, just go up stairs.

What if the bathroom is down stairs and he waits for you?

There was a Psychic that was down on his luck so he decided to rob a bank. This Psychic was a small guy, about 4' 4". Anyway he got caught and sent to jail.
Some time later he escaped from the slammer and the head lines read:

Small Medium at Large.

I thought that was pretty far out.

I will have to try the harder grip on the cue for long shots. Thats kinda my bane as well.

I always thought it was strange in "the Mummy" movies (the ones from the 1950's era) that the Mummy could EVER catch anybody. That was one slow, leg-draggin' mother......er, um.... I mean mummy.

I think it's far out, that that you nailed me, and haven't even seen me play.

Sometimes when I go fishing in my boat... I'm 'far out' from land. Cool, huh? Yeah... far out. :kma: *farts*

I always have wondered how much better I would be if I didn't have a wrist?

Not worth it...without a wrist....you would have missed out on one of the finer things in life for all growing boys..

Nah, ya get the cute next door neighbor girl to do it for you.
