I think there will still be gambling. The thing is where the tournament will be held and where the action and pool will go down is a completely other building than the Casino. The casino is a gambling river boat there is no gambling on land out there.JB Cases said:I am going to make a prediction and BET that the wide open gambling gets shut down this year at DCC. The casinos do not want to have people gambling on anything OTHER than their games. I will bet a NICE dinner that we hear some story about the casino shutting down the ACTION room or severely subduing it.
I have seriousl doubts about the the DCC being good for gambling matchese when it's held in a casino. Having been to the BCA and VNEA and APA for many years I found that very rarely is it like the Pit in Valley Forge or the Action Room at DCC.
One year at VNEA it was like that for a while but never since.
Casinos just drain all the money. Of course it could go the other way and some pool player hits it big on blackjack and gives the world action on the pool table.

Im only a B player so I guess you will beat me easy too.Fatboy said:your 100% correct, the action will be limited at best, players will be MIA litterly missing action-casino action, not pool action. Casinos dont rent out the convention space because they like pool, they do it because everyone in there is a potential casino customer, funny thing is I cant find many people to flip a coin with but the same people will take the wrost of it on a card/dice game. The reason is its not personal-its easy to blame the casino. I have seen it all living in vegas for almost 20 years-it amazes me people dont wisen up, but they dont.
The action will be bad this Derby and the current economy will be the "Reason" but thats not the truth the joint will get the $$$, dont worry about that.
I really hope I'm wrong, but i hve been to probably 50 tournments at casinos and lived in Vegas long enough to know better, I will be pleasantly shocked if there is good action at the Derby, I dont mean one big $20,000 that will happen, but the $50-$500 action all over the place, like last year I met a kid who out of the blue asked me to play race to 7 for $50, he was a B player, I won the first set easy, slowed down a little next set so he might raise the bet. I slowed down to much and he beat me hill/hill, he wisely pulled up as he knew he had no shot, he didnt want to adjust so I showed him a couple shots and we parted friends. But I bet this year a kid like that wont have that $50 to fire, he most likely will have lost it in the casino. Thats what happens in casinos.
hope i'm wrong!

Funny you should say that. Maybe you should re-read one of your posts from another thread...Fatboy said:IF TOOTH LANDS 99/100 ON THE BOARD AND CLIFF LANDS 84/100 TIMES TOOTH HAS A 15% EDGE-THATS NOT GAMBLING. I WANT TO GAMBLE NOT GET ROBBED UNDER THE MASK OF "GAMBLING".
TOOTH MASQUERADES*(see bottom of post) AS A GAMBLER, WHEN INFACT HE IS JUST A HUSTLER. <-----Fatboy is a little smarter than that.![]()

Good.Fatboy said:I have seen guys who can control the coin-one the best I have seen (I wont ever say who it is, but he posts here some), he gets what he calls about 8 or 9/10 times right with a quarter, it is amazing. he will say "you want heads or tails?" and sure enough he flips the quarter up about 8" to a foot and it lands on what you asked for 8 or 9 times out of 10 times. Its not a trick coin he is just good, he has trick coins(weighted and same on both sides) but like he said "they are for beginners", how strong is that?? The flip looks good too not some wobbling thing, He wouldnt give up how he does it,,,,,yet....when(or if) he does I will really be looking for "Flip it" action.
Sounds like more hot air to me.Fatboy said:I WONT PLAY ANOTHER MANS GAME, UNLESS I HAVE A CHANCE TO PRACTICE IT WELL AHEAD OF TIME. SO SEND ME A BOARD AND I WILL PLAY.

Rubyron said:How about a neutral flipper. I'll guess that 99.999999999 percent of the population has no idea how to manipulate a coin flip. So a random, neutral flipper would be as close to 50/50 as a coin flip gets.

You never miss an opportunity to tell us how smart you are, so it's more than fair to believe that you're going to (at least in your mind) have the best of any bet you make. I won't publically "out" the coin-flip guy either, since he now runs a legitimate business, but rest assured you're not the only one who knows who it is.
Sounds like more hot air to me.
