Fedex Overcharge

I just shipped a shaft using my Fedex account. I used the Fedex Express triangular tube, as always. Shipping from Las Vegas to Cerritos, CA. When I printed the label the listed charge for Fedex Express Saver service was about $42. The package weighed 2 pounds.

Received the bill today, and the charge was $77! I looked up the invoice and was charged for a 26 pound package, special handling. $17 fuel surcharge and extra for residential delivery. I set up a dispute for the charges and Fedex online said this shipment is not eligible for a refund. I then called and talked to a rep and she couldn't adjust the charges either.

I have been using Fedex for years and have never had this happen, the charge was nearly double.

Looks like I won't be using them again, too bad, they have the best tracking.

$17 fuel surcharge for a 2 lb box? I think I won't ship anything for a while.

It is a bit interesting, given current conditions and businesses ability to quickly impart systematic changes...

Does a package delivered to the boonies of one zip code cost more to handle than to an address in same zip that is closer to the delivery hub?

when you chose the packaging did you choose the triangle box? These carriers charge more for these weird shaped boxes. UPS charges alot for round tubes

I once got an after the ship surcharge because I screwed up and the weight was wrong. I get that. I don't get them giving you a price and then billing you later for a fuel surcharge.

Don’t write off FedEx completely. I have only had success with FedEx and DHL for international shipping. All other carriers were consistently a headache and many months of delays. Especially UPS.

For intranational it is a bit different.

I don’t see why you cannot dispute the 26 pound charge when it was only 2 pounds?

This is why I stopped printing labels at home for UPS and FedEx. I will only ship from one of there shipping centers and only pay cash. The FedEx ship.ce ter stopped taking cash so now I go.in with a $40 visa gift card and make electronic payment via that.

What they price is only what there getting, no bonus charges...

The problem is with that is you're often paying franchise pricing, which may equal what pirateShip plus the surcharges was.

If you paid with a credit card hopefully, American Express, do a dispute with your credit card let them handle it.

I do this now at restaurants, I get my total price including taxes before I order. This fedx behavior is becoming the new Normal.... more prevalent these days in many business's.
Pencil Pushers'....

Another vote for PirateShip (using their UPS service, NOT USPS service). Also you have to be careful there is a UPS service that uses USPS for the last portion of delivery, which means the tracking falls apart. I won't do that one again after learning my lesson.

The FedEx surcharges I'm not sure they ripped you off. Its probably due to it being oversized in length or something like that.
