Good luck Rod, you are going to have the time of your life. I spent over 20 years running pool halls and it was a blast 99% of the time. The other 1% was memorable as well .

In the beginning you must PROMOTE, PROMOTE and PROMOTE some more, particularly within about a three mile radius. That is where most of your business will come from. Flyers on windshields and front doors with a 20% discount will bring people in for a look. If you have a college nearby, advertise in the school paper and offer a student discount. Senior citizen discounts are good as well. Treat your new customers well and they will come back and bring others with them.

The first six months is the key to developing your business and establishing your clientele. Monthly passes (maybe $50-60) are a good idea as well. Let them play all day until maybe 7 PM when you start to get busy. You don't want the place empty in the day time, trust me on that. Much better to have a few tables going with your regulars.

DO NOT gamble with your customers, unless it's a friendly wager on a ball game or something. If you beat them in pool they may not come back. I learned this lesson the hard way. ;)

Make sure you have an ATM on the premises and don't sell gum!

Like the title says im gonna be opening my own room in Pensacola Florida. I should be open by monday this week. I end up buying 18 new diamonds with all pro cut pockets.

Congratulations! Any reason they're all pro cut? They won't do much to the morale of casual / league players.

Looks like a pretty busy area. Good luck!! Got another name in mind?

That's great....hopefully that will make it easier to get a good nights sleep, as the hrs you've been putting in this past yr. or so getting it up and running do take its toll.

Diamond's standard pocket size is the ProCut, bigger than that now has to be specially ordered;) At the factory, I have about 70 sets of rails that had the league cut pockets (4 3/4") that were returned to Diamond in exchange for the ProCut pockets...in which I'm going to turn them into ProCut so they can be resold again when ever I get the chance to work on them;)
