First try at 6 pocket

Thats a very good first time score.......Two questions. did you have any penalty points and do you think you can average your 116?

Did you figure out how to get to the sanctioned facility map? If not it is on your other post, 6 pocket.

No penalty points on the 116. Just came in from playing 10 racks...114 with 3 penalty points. I'm on a Valley BB so only problem is the clusters. Yes I saw the map. I will go to the closest room that you sanction in the Tampa area and join.

I think I might do better on an 8-foot table. Johnnyt

I played my best game on a 9' a 101 and my worst on a 9' a 31.........hard to believe you can be that eratic. Right now I have a 6.9 handicap which means I add 69 points to my total rack score.

I will look you up to play a game when we get to that part of Florida signing up facilities.

I've seen this before. Many years ago now, Pool and Billliard Magazine had something similar going on, nation wide, and I was the local rep. I saw a good many experienced 14.1 players who were erratic, as well. It's about the confusion that arises from having too many choices, even with ball in hand. That's why the first few shots, in particular, can be so important. I've only played one ten rack game so far, a 75, with 3 penalty points and two rack scores of 1:sorry:

I had some time yesterday and tried it out. My first two frames were zeroes! Boy did I feel bad! The next frame was a 15 though. I ended up with another 15 later on, but did have a few other bad frames. I ended up with a 64.

I played it on a medium tight 9-foot table. I broke pretty good for the most part, but leaving the cueball towards the center is key since a few frames had me letting the cueball go and having only a few choice shots near the head rail. Even on a 9-foot table, a few frames had me breaking up some clusters. I think an 8-foot table would results in more clusters, but the shots would be easier.

All-in-all, it was a little more challenging than I first expected. I'll have to give it another try sometime. I really don't see myself playing it against anyone for money though! :p

You can register to play in our tournament at Fast Eddies in San Antonio on June 27/28. It looks like it will have a $1,000.00 added prize money. I'm sure if you have established a handicap by then.............you can get action.:D

3,6,7,8,9,10,11 ball,golf,one-pocket,snooker,3 cushions and now you
say you won't gamble on something new?:D:D
Guess I know what we'll play tomorrow!

and it doesn't seem to get any easier

We've got lots of people giving it a go....and the consensus....

"Man I know I can do better than that! Let me try again!"

And then.....

"Let me try again, I know I can beat that score......"

And then.....

"Well, it's a good thing you have the handicapping system so I don't have to play scratch!"

Then they're back day after day trying to beat yesterdays score!

6 pocket, do you know a lot of guys who have posted perfect scores, or how often someone like john s. posts one? Cuz I honestly feel like I should be doing it. I've put up some bad sets but if I get past the first 2 balls I'm a lock for all 15. I want to know if 150 is insane or fairly common. If it's rare I'll try harder for it.

The only problem is I play with a buddy and who has the patience to wait through 10 racks? I play a little slower than average I think.

As of today the only 150 that has been shot that I know of is by John and he has only had 3. I believe they will be rare.....:sorry: sort of like bowling a 300 game. He has had a couple 149's and 148's because of the relief shot or a scratch. His worst score is a 126 that I know of. We have talked about it and it is going to take a pro caliber player to average above the 140 range, especially under tournament type conditions.

Waiting through ten racks?

Your buddy should only have to have the patience to wait through one of your racks at a time, because he should shoot a rack after you shoot yours and then back to you, then back to him, etc.

Also, remember that in tournament conditions there is a 20 second shot clock....let's see 15 x 20 = 300 / 60 = 5 minutes max to play a rack, obviously less if you don't run the rack....

So max 5 minute wait, seems a lot shorter than the time I've seen people sitting watching an opponent break and run nultiple racks in 9 ball...

In your opinion what would be a harder a perfect 147 in snooker or a 150 in six ball? I would think a 150 in six ball would be much easier am I wrong?

147 in Snooker is MUCH harder than a 150 would be in this game. The best snooker players in the world might only have a handfull of perfect games in their entire life. If I remember correctly Ronnie O'Sullivan has only nine perfect games in thousands of matches and he has more than anyone else. Don't get me wrong it would take a pro level player to get a 150 score, but any pro that plays this game very much will have perfect scores. How many games of this has John S. played? He already has three perfect games and is averaging over 140. I also realize that he is a great 14.1 player so this game comes natural to him.

I agree that a 147 in Snooker would be harder to do.

John and I discuss this all the time about what we think the pros scores would be under tournament conditions and we think a 4 round pro event with a perfect score being 600, the average would be in the 560/570 range and some winning scores could be in the 590 range. I believe we will see some perfect scores (600) in pro tournaments.

I just gave this game a try. I was on route for 135-140, when boredom set in around rack 7. I missed an easy 4th ball while paying zero attention whatsoever, and then closed out with a 124. Had I not been bored and missed that one shot, I would have scored way up in the pro level....which doesnt sit well with me, considering that I'm not even any good at pool. lol

I realize that fighting off complacency is part of the difficulty involved in scoring a high score in the long haul....but fighting boredom isn't my idea of fun. I'd rather play something that kept my attention at every shot.

This might be a good league game, but it just wasn't for me. Regardless of all that, I still give my respect to those who are putting in the time and dedication to make this game more popular. Clearly other people are enjoying it. Best of luck with it. :)

Future of billiards!

What an astounding game this. I tried this game for the time in Texas and I miscued on my 2nd or 3rd shot...wow..talk about wanting to stop haha.. I ended up with a 131 or 126 (give or take a couple) so I guess I can say I had a decent recovery. This new Future of billiards game is becoming wide spread across the country very obviously. Its only a matter of time before we all get hooked. The plans that are already in tact with the board of committee with 6 Pocket are prestigious..I encourage any and every pool player to give it a whack one time and watch how easy it is to beat yourself lol....

here's what will help fight the boredom, your 2nd and every time player 1 shoots a 15 you have to match it or you might loose the cash. For practice try playing it without letting the cue ball touch the rail, after the break.

It is a game that looks easy on the surface, and IS easy......easy if you dont make a mistake in 150 strokes....
With the handicaps it allows players to match up with just about anyone... and the gambles built in to scoring system allows guys like me to make a hundred different bets during the course of a match... :D
