Fixing the game of 9 ball.

I've always wanted to try ball in hand after any miss.

I wonder how that would work for me as a handicap against an 800+ Fargo.
My prediction would be: not well. Depends a bit on the table and the break format. Winner breaks and non-gaffy table, an 800 fargo will probably string 3-4 racks and be a threat to run 5-6 as well, any time he comes to the table with a makeable shot. He'd likely adjust his game a bit, to make sure he doesn't leave you anything. Remember that he is about a 50% to run out from a hooked position.

I don't really like your chances unless you are 700+ yourself. An 800+ fargo is an entirely different beast from most other players. Insane shotmaking, Godlike kicking, flawless strategy. There isn't really a lot you can do against a guy like that, unless you string racks every inning. They can run the set out at any moment and will put insane pressure on you.

Can't play leave you nothing if its ball in hand after every miss😉

Safeties not allowed? I thought he meant call safe for the pro.
I have some experience at promoting and running a few 10B events with ball in hand after every miss, as well as multiple wins in the same rack. Everytime the 10B was made out of turn, NOT being last, it counted as a wins, and spotted back up, and the player continued shooting until the rack was finished, or missed pocketing a ball.

Have ANY of you tried racking and breaking as I posted in my first post, or are all these comments just opinions again without facts???
As are your's it's simply a gaff to the game , play the game as it is , no one changes chess or checkers last time I checked. You do make great glue I'm told

Then why isn't 9B played the way we played it 40 years ago, isn't it the same game played today?

Last time I checked, chess and checkers were board games, and have nothing to do with pool. Neutralizing the break makes it a gaff game? Why is that, because it puts the players on a equal playing field after the break, so they have to show their skills at pocketing balls without the help of a pattern layout break!!???

Here's what I don't like about sticking your opponent so bad in a safe that there's no way out. Player shoots, makes the best attempt to make a legal shot, but fouls anyway, incoming player gets ball in hand, runs out!! What this rule change does, is give that SAME player a fighting chance to get OUT of that safety play by pushing out to a position in which they have at least a shot to make a ball, instead of just selling out.

This creates drama now in the game because the opponent is now faced with the decision of do I TAKE the shot, or do I take the RISK of giving the shot back to my opponent and HOPE he DON'T make a ball, because if he does, it might cost me the game!! But if I TAKE the shot and miss, THAT might cost me the game too! OH BOY, what do I do now???? Better hurry up and decide though, shot clock is counting down!!!

So, don't reward someone for playing a great safe? Today, in situations where the player feels that they can't hit the ball or will sell out even if they do, they will tie balls up.

You are right I don't get it. Maybe get one of your sponsors to put up a bit of cash and get 2 pros to play for it with your proposed rules and let us see it.
