Nothing like a good Heinnie

When I played in my very first WPBA event back in 1998, someone came up to me with a magazine and asked me to autograph it. I was somewhat bewildered, and replied "Sorry, but I'm not Jeanette Lee." The guy came back with "Of course not! You're Jennifer Chen, right?"
I remember that incident almost more than how my matches went that event. It was pretty funny to me....

P.S. I think people have accidentally called me "Sunny" too when I was still living in the Midwest.![]()

Her husband Marshall was a successful real estate developer and part time anouncer for various products. He had a great sense of humor, and a booming voice. He was often hired to do the announcing at Los Angeles area pool tournaments in the 70's and early 80's.
Marshall passed away in the mid 80's. Lee is still alive I think. She would be in her late 60's to early 70's now. We all know Asian women live forever and still look good.I want one too, but they all seem to be taken.

We had something like 178 players (maybe more) and yes Gerda played real well, finishing something like 9-12th overall. Too bad we never got to do that one again.
The nearest motels were 20-30 miles away. I remember that too. I heard they have a hotel there now.

At the auction, a lady walked up to me and asked me to autograph her jacket and I simply thought she wanted to remember this event by getting everyone's signature on her jacket. As she turns her back to me to sign, I noticed that no one else has signed her jacket. Something told me to ask, "and why do you want me to sign your jacket?" She replied with a huge grin and said, "my husband watches you on TV all the time and he will never believe that I saw you here!"
I had to tell that lady that I wasn't Jeannette Lee. I think I broke her heart, she thought she had met a celebrity.
Just for the record, I am flattered, but I don't have any similar feature to Jeannette Lee. It just amazes me how most people think "we" all look alike![]()

Yes, this character is patterned after me (I actually signed a "release" for them to use my name), but "I" was played by a character actor named Richard Portnoy, who does resemble me.
After the movie came out, someone came up to me and complimented me on my fine acting in the film. I had to laugh when I told him it wasn't "me". He didn't seem to grasp that an actor was playing the part.
In fact, a couple of other people asked me if I was in the film. They did a good job of casting is all I have to say.

I knew a caucasian couple who adopted a chinese baby, and when they came home with her, one of the grandmothers (of the adoptive mother) came up and said, "Oh how cute. Will she be able to speak english when she grows up?"
