Food Poisoning at the Derby?

There is my suggestion.
The problem seemed to emanate from the Sub shop. That's where people were eating and getting food poisoning later. These were NOT colds! I'm wondering if they have regular inspections at these restaurants. I have owned several snack bars, and all eating and prep areas MUST be kept clean! Any kind of contamination can spoil the food and the result is sick people. Day old food of any kind can also become inedible.
I strongly suspect that some of the food being served in there was no longer fit for consumption. I even complained to the hotel management about it and I doubt that anything was done. I'm sure that sub shop is a rental on the property, and not the responsibility of the hotel. It all comes down to how strict are the controls by the health department in that area. This kind of thing should not be happening in a public restaurant. And definitely not repeatedly day after day. It tells me that the restaurant staff knows they have a problem and are not addressing it. They have chosen instead to let things remain status quo until they are forced to make changes in the sanitation and hygiene there (or shut down). This also does not surprise me one bit as many restaurants (even some up-scale) ones are run the same way. Their unwritten creed is to not waste anything that can be served again another day.

Excellent addition- I got one for $27 at Walgreens. (Flu Shot)
I thought it was the pizza shop that contributed to the problem, the bottom line is be careful where you eat,when possible look at how the food is prepared & served.If it don't look good DON'T EAT THERE
I ate at the pizza place last year and never got ill. My friends and I always buy some stuff to make cheap snacks and sandwiches to help us run on without spending too much cash. 2 years ago I did get a really bad flu/cold the day after I got home. I think part of that has to do though with the lack of sleep weakening one's immune system.

I am not there but I know the feeling. I thought I had food posioning about 3 weeks ago after a wedding reception but later found it to be a super intestinal flu. It comes on very quick with severe intestinal cramps and you had better be within leaping distance to the bathroom. You are left weak and dehydrated. I was down about 6 days and about the time I was getting over it my wife got it. It is highly contagious and comes on so-quick it makes you immediately think food poisioning.

generally speaking the symptoms of food poisoning do not appear until roughly 24 hours after ingesting the contaminated food. hope this info helps any of you that got sick in determining what food or which restuarant was the cause of your sickness.

Just Lucky?
My Wife and I have attended year since the Derby has been at the new location without any problems. We never left the hotel, and ate every meal there without incident. We plan on making the trip again next year. Sorry to hear about the people that had problems.

Same here i ate every where in there,my friend and i,neither of us got sick for 2 years and a row,sounds like we got lucky?

Last year I stayed in a different hotel and I thought it was the fruit platter I ate before my match, but I was never sure. Anyhow, I had cramps so badly that I couldn't make a ball. I lost two back to back matches that I'd gladly play again and make a wager too.

There is nothing on the earth as filthy as Pool Table cloth that a variety of people have been playing on. Over the years I have seen people sneeze on it cough on it wipe their hands on it and God knows what else on it.You can't just wash your hands after playing on busy tables you have to deep sanitize them, especially before eating.I'm not saying this was the problem but it seems some ate the same food but not all got sick , so who knows?
