For anyone who thinks pool's not stressful

my opinion is

who cares? I mean really.....it would be different if he slipped and fell and cut open his head, but that didn't happen...kinda like a drunk driver getting hurt while driving home... screw him. He should be a man and act like it. Don't act like a fool, and you wont get hurt. I dont feel sorry for people that hurt themselves or better yet hurt other people, grow up and if you cant handle that, stay home.

This is apparantly something that was "out of character" for him.

I imagine something has been dwelling in this guy for some time.

Interestingly...some people vent any hostility almost as a way to just release it and get it out of the system......New Yorkers have this sterotype of the "get in your face" about something...and then two seconds later after they got in your face...and "vented" so to speak...they are your absolute best freind and would go to battle for you.......and never think twice about that they just got in your face....almost as if it never happened.

Others bottle it up, bottle it up, bottle it up... and then just one day...go postal...

I don't know why...just my nature I guess...but these types of things get me thinking.....Why do some people that bottle up the anger and then snap....... go postal "inwardly" such as this event and why do some people go postal "outwardly"...

I have met Fabio a couple of times and I think he is a great poolplayer and a class act. Surprised to read about what happened here...

One thing for sure, he has gotten way more attention now compared to when he for example won Eurotour Malaga Open 1,5 years ago, or the World Trickshot Championships :D

I hope everything will be ok for Faboulous Fabio, and that we will continue to see him play fantastic pool.

BTW: What's the odds for him to actually win the tournament now? Maybe this was a trick he pulled, so now everyone is dead scared to play him. "What will he do if I make this 9? Slam his head in my forehead? I better dog it..."

Well then...

yes i am a fireman, but that doesn't mean i feel sorry for everyone that gets hurt. when doing my job i treat everyone the same, i can differentiate between being professional and being an a-hole on the scene. but do i feel sorry for the guy that falls down a flight of stairs outside of a bar because he is so wasted? NOPE just like here, whatever is going on with him, he still is a man, act like it. everyone act like it.

Fireman's code...

So what's the Fireman's code? Does the culture in your firehouse match your views you have just stated here?

Never really thought highly of Petroni ................ more reason not too......He really needs a layoff of the game for a while!!!

I remember seeing Gabe at last year's tournament with a hole in his head from a spider bite. That certainly looked painful.

Hi metallicane,
Yeah, I had forgotten about that one. Some kind of spider that doesn't just leave a bite mark, but a hole in your face.
He had to go to the doctor with that, and I think he actually still has a scar from it.

What did you mean by that?

I think Fabio is going to have a hard time playing pool in a straight jacket.

The is a local guy here, when losing, racking the balls will freeze up the one ball by banging his head on it. And he bangs it hard.

Not to make light of this situation, but I just meant that he's told me of some extremely heartbreaking tragedies over the past 15 years. Some just unspeakable to this day.

We all have our troubles at times, and some of us may not always use the best judgement. Maybe it was just a bad day for him. I wish him the best.

There is definitely a need for a mental health examination.... and for Fabio too.

I think the head slamming was actually listed in a book to help with the frustration of being a professional pool player. You can buy the book here: naturalcures.com

I found an Inside Pool Magazine interview with Gabe Owen at Link

Scroll down for the video of interview. There is no footage from the event de jur.

Gabe said no blood got on the cloth but it was all over the wood and the floor.

I can't imagine it, so yes, I would like to see the real footage.

Of all the tables to do that to, a Diamond is just the wrong pick, lol. I have friend that is a dealer at Pensacola Billiards and he showed me how hard the wood is on those tables by throwing a pool ball and bouncing it off the wood. No dings or scratches or dents what so ever.

I've seen guys break cues, hit the other player with fist or cue, throw balls, crack slate with balls, throw his cue like a spear. I even saw a pro wrestler in Tampa, FL turn over a barbox when I beat him for a few hundred dollars.(i almost needed to change my underwear that day). But in 50+ years I've never saw someone split their own head open on the table. Johnnyt
