Forum rage

Misanthropy is alive and well on AZ forum. I tend to agree with previous posters on the subject of cowardice.

Is this the same phsycology as road rage?

NO. With road rage, people are in big cars, and have blackjacks, tire irons, or even guns. Here at AZB, people just use CAPS and emoticons.  :(

It's more like "forum fury"......or is it "forum furry".

Is this the same phsycology as road rage? I can't believe some of the stuff people direct at each other on these forums, they surly would not say these things in person. I have done a couple of searches today on some info I was needing and found so many threads degenerated into name calling and bickering to the point of arranging boxing matches!!. WTF is wrong with people? It must be the bravery of being out of range that allows the true persona to appear and leaves no doubt about how wars started in the past. The aggression of humans is still bubbling below the surface.

I like to quote Fred Agnir on this (Cornerman). He once said something to the effect that "internet posting isn't for the thin skinned." I would like to add that it's also not for the frail of ego, nor for the fool who expects to be suffered.

This may sound like mean stuff, but it's true. If you write something really rash or stupid, or wrong, expect to hear the truth. You can also expect that when you write something stupid or rash or vengeful - a few people will agree with you and give rep- which is what's really amazing about the net!

Then there is the chasm created by our different stages of life. Here's an example. A guy writes that his girlfirends hindquarters are great and challenges others to post pictures of their wife or girlfriend's fat hindquarters. All I could think about was the person who is more dear to me than anyone., who has accomplished so much, who has had my child, manages my business, was with me when my mom and dad passed away, who worked her ass off to put herself completely through USC in 4 years without a loan while supporting herself, who made Dean's list at USC and straight A's (not one B) in USC - and in high school too - 7 years of straight A's. One who is absolutely beautiful and accomplished. Who is an Elder in her church, a fine mother and someone I respect more than any other in the world, my wife.

It made me think about a response to "let's see her butt". I realized that we were in different worlds speaking a different language. There would be no way to communicate by written word what I was thinking, so I didn't respond.

I gotta ask WTF are you talking about???????????:grin-square::grin::p:thumbup:

I only called someone a name once not cursing stc. - the thread was removed by the moderators . There are a lot of threads that I don't express my opinion on as I forsee an argument that eventually will go nowhere.

I started a long reply about how forum rage is just a further degree of road rage because of the comparatively larger "distance" from others, but the more I wrote the more the analogy broke down because most internet flamers and antogonists are just scared little rats who would never be aggressive face to face.

They take their potshots and go to bed feeling slightly less small until they wake up again to their miserable little lives and go to work getting kicked around by the summer intern. (Wow, THAT took a cynical turn. Time for bed).

Any forum mixed with thin skin = disaster

Maybe that's the grand design of the net. To toughen us all up mentally before we can evolve further.

Maybe the "net" serves to allow most of us to "grow up" mentally and get tougher so we can leave the drama and get down to what's really important.

Now, what's really important?

Anyone that would do something like that has no class, no respect for their other half, and basically doesn't deserve a response. Some people can be so tacky.

It's the Internet age. People are losing the ability articulate an opinion and maybe more importantly, accept someone else'e opinion. Clear example is the comments section on youtube.

Boy you hit this one dead on,i believe there are some people here just waiting to disagree with anybody, for a good argument!and then there are a lot of others that are here to learn or teach.

That is not true and you are wrong.:D

Godwin's law: a humorous observation made by Mike Godwin in 1990[2] which has become an Internet adage. It states: "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 100%.

I really hope that it is because of the anonymity of the Internet. If not, te only other explanation is that people really are that callus and hateful; that would be a very sad state.

I am sure I lash out occasionally, and probably at the wrong people sometimes. I am human. But I really hope that most of my personality comes through in a positive way.

wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!
