Seriously now......
When it was free, I was watching between 500 (minimum) and over 1000 users logged in constantly..... chatting away, having a blast, commenting on someone dogging shots or making monsterous shots.
Everyone was living it up for days on end until 7am or so, every single night. Some people commented on whether or not they'd take off work, or whether they'd be late... because they couldn't pull themselves away from the action.
The hotel's internet has been a constant struggle. I'm not affiliated by TAR in anyway, I'm not an employee, sponsor, owner, anything. Therefore, when I say the hotel's internet is the worst joke of the galaxy --- the fact it's going as well as it is is AMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZING!!!
In fact, IF I recall BCN had a JIZZZOKE of a time running their live stream here in years past. Since I'm in the industry, I always check out how others do with this type of stuff. I pay attention. This year, BCN is tape delaying their matches because they know the network at the hotel is as laughable as the guy who got mauled instigating the tiger at the zoo the other day. Smart people. TAR stepped up into a tough, tough situation and invested berserk hours (MOSTLY for free) to ensure everyone at home was set with their gambling fix.
I'm just merely a volunteer who is a fan of what they're doing, because my business does similar stuff all the time--- so I'm very sensitive to how DIFFICULT it is to do what they do..... ESPECIALLY for how much they charge to do it. I love volunteering with them because I know everyone wins: you and them. It's GREAT for pool.
Industry average for managing events of this length..... a company like TAR would need to clear $15,000 to make it worth while.
Over the last few days, I repeatedly asked people to buy the PPV even if the matches didn't wet your whistle. Because I know a HUGE majority of you guys were sweating matches for days on end for free (and loving it). I know by not supporting their PPV is the equivalent of eating your young, if you like their product.
50 people is a joke people. Yes, the video is choppy at times but it is NOT TAR's fault at ALL. I personally spent at least 2 hours on the phone this week with Wayport technical support because they are not getting the dedicated bandwidth they paid for. The majority of the time it is ok. Not perfect, but as good as it'd get from this location - that's for sure. If you're really unhappy and you feel you got "hustled" out of ten measly dollars when you've been sweating matches for free all week, I'm SURE Nasty or JCIN would be more than happy to refund your 10 dollars - no questions asked.
Personally, if I was online all week for free - I would have bought a t-shirt and 1 or 2 PPV's, no questions asked, even if I played PS3 all night and didn't even watch it.... but that's just me.
I hope the rest of the 950 people who had the time of their life all week ask mom for $10 and support TAR.
Unreaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal.
