FS: Sugartree full splice--Really Nice!

I really like this cue a lot. In fact I'm working on its near twin now...boco into ph fullsplice. After seeing how good Eric's looks finished...I may have to keep mine for me.:) The wood combo is very striking in person and Joe is right, the balance is awesome. Can't wait to get some clear on it & hit some balls.

The cue does look amazing in person, and it does hit firm and Crisp...

I regret trading it!!!!! :(

And I regret that you didn't trade it to ME:( :)

I also saw the cue and it is the NUTZ. The BOCO's golden hues in conjunction with the PH does it for me.

I think you will be very happy. The balance of the Sugartree cue is one of those that makes you feel like you have always played with it, instead of it being a totally new cue to you. It just feels comfortable.

Wow

A lot of action on Turkey Day...love the Bacote. Speaking of regrets, I remember passing on a number of cues myself as Sinatra sang "That's Life"

Varney did you splice yours Bacote/Purpleheart or did you buy the blank?

I knew this one would not likely last long. :) I love the bocote in this cue, but have to admit, that I am on the fence with the purpleheart forearm. Would have loved to hear Eric's reasoning for this particular wood combination...curiousity and all. ;) Gotta love the way a boco cue plays tho'! :D

This one came in a batch of blanks Eric acquired with bacote back-end with various nose including the purpleheart. I have another one with rosewood nose and bacote handle. And waiting for Eric to ship me the cocobolo nose with bacote handle.

I took this cue in a trade and traded to a guy who I promised a first dib on the sugartree cue.

The purpleheart nose/bacote back end is a "trip" and an acquired taste .. like Jimbo. However, the "hit" of this cue is awesome. I actually like it better than the hit on my rosewood nose cue.

The very first day i played with purpleheart note ST cue, I took out two good players at a local tournament (handicapped). I traded this particular cue as I believed this cue exemplify Eric's work.

The cue, I agree, is not the most attractive in terms of initial appearances. But it needs to be seen in person to appreciate it. Pictures do not show how the woods glimmer & change in shades as the cue is tilted from one angle to another, highlighting the lines of the spice. But "beauty" was not the objective in the first place. Playability & comfort & ease of use were the primary goals, and the rings & collar colors were my attempt at spicing up the "ugliness". It was a pleasure to build & play with. Like they say, "so ugly only a mother could love it" :)

As for Mexican fence posts, it's kinda funny that they were mentioned. Bocote is commonly used in central/southern Mexico as fence posts, roof rafters & porch posts!!! And purpleheart is a generic hardwood kinda like commercially cut oak, often used in junk products like pallets & railroad ties. Woods we think of here in the USA as exotic are often times considered common in the areas they grow. However, it takes nothing away from the fact that bocote & purpleheart are phenominal cue woods.

Congrats to the buyer. I enjoyed building this cue ;)

Cool! If ya get a chance, can you post up a pic of the rosewood/boco cue? Would love to see if my initial impression, as to aesthtics, of course, is on the mark. :)

Thanks so much, Eric, for satisfying my unending curiousity! Love to hear different viewpoints on cue construction, as well as reasoning for wood choices. :)

Here it is .. it's obviously the bottom cue :)

It's rosewood note/bacote handle with Hipple ivory joint and buttcap and matching joint protectors - NOT FOR SALE (right now) so don't anyone PM me, please.

The top cue is Titlist conversion that now belongs poolmonkey's slave ...
