Fu***** smoking a$$ pool halls

You can open an abortion clinic for killing babies, and you offer your customer the choice to enter or not.they kill 1 million plus every year.90% of their patrons are non smokers.the ability to make a choice is still there.they need to make a law that you have to walk through a smoking poolroom or a bar to get to the abortion clinic.that will really help to save some lives.

This could be the silliest post I have ever seen.:scratchhead:

That 70% thing, well, there is some of that "group think" stuff...it comes down to the individual...The bottom line here is if someone opens up a smoking room right next door to a non-smoking room, which one do you go to??? Every person must answer that question for themselves, not be told by some statistical figure...Which room stays??? Short answer is the one that gets clientele...Long answer is the one one that attracts the "right" people...I wanna go to the seedy place with lots of people playin' pool and gamblin' and smokin', not the crisp clean air hall that is loaded up with tightwads that are there with their $30 wally-world cues who are there just for the clean air...

Back to this "group think" thing...It never ceases to amaze me that all of these people who talk about rights of the non-smoker are so quick to say clean air this and clean air that....What about the smokers' rights you have trampled on?? I completely understand and support having different sections for smokers and non-smokers, and I support air filtration etc...I like the idea of non-smoking supermarkets and banks etc..Heck, I even go outside of my own house to smoke now, but that is my choice...

However, I don't like that when I travel through Iowa and stop at a rest area, I have to smoke in my car...Yep, you can't stand outside in the open air at a rest area and smoke, it must be inside your car....And now we got hospitals jumpin' on sayin' that you can't even smoke in your car now (which is begging for a lawsuit)...Just more rights down the tube in the name of "group think safety"....And most of all, I don't mind getting up to go outside to smoke, but don't tell me I have to be X number of feet away from the door and don't tell me that even "outside" isn't good enough anymore either...

There are tons of laws on the books to protect people and the general public.

Most aviation regulations and auto safety standards are in place to protect the public. Food industry has standards to protect the public.

Shitty broken planes here, we fly the worst ones.
Dirty spoiled food served here.

Do you have the right to be protected?

Smokers should give up their rights.

Smokers want to smoke and non-smokers don't want to be around that smoke. And we all want to play pool together. Instead of arguing about smoke free laws we could implement proper ventilation legislation.

This is ridiculous. There is smokey, smokier and smokiest. And there is smoke free. Everything not smoke free is just a measure of smokey and stinks. It's like being a little bit pregnant.

Proper ventilation is outside, period. And then there's the butts. No smoker polled ever threw one down in an inappropriate spot, yet our streets and parking lots are so thick with them even the sewer rats are getting cancer. 99% of smokers give the other 1% a bad name.

Last night I was at the pool room for about 8 hours locked in a couple sessions. In China the thought of having a pool room be smoke free is farther away than imagining us colonizing Mars.

5 years ago I thought exactly like this about Oregon. And then as if a gift from god............

It may seem remote but the day will come in China too. Probably not in your life time though. Although I thought that about Oregon too.

How funny

:p
Next they will start cracking down on peeing in pools. Peeing isnt illegal! And if you dont want to smell like pee then you shouldnt go swimming! Its my right to pee!!!!!!

Would anyone like this?.

I'm only going to piss in your drink on this side. You can still drink on the other side.

That's how reficulous defending smoking is!

....then those folks who smoke was give their dollars to some place that caters to them and let's them smoke...

LMAO. The cemetaries are the businesses that caters to smokers. And I do believe you can smoke in most cemetaries.....so puff away :)

Best,
Mike

But we can both enjoy pool. Between sets, or between league matches, step outside and puff away...not a problem. Not sure why anyone thinks it is a problem for a smoker to step outside to smoke.

Heck, when I gotta take a dump, I walk to the bathroom rather than doing it in a bucket next to the table. I've yet to complain about the 30 foot walk yet, but so help me, I might !!

So, we both (smokers and non smokers) have to leave the pool table and go through a door to do our business that the other is not too fond to be around so as not to disturb other players and patrons, pretty fair all the way around.

And what's with the spitting?

At one of my local poolrooms, I have noticed that more than a few of the smokers constantly spit while smoking...in between puffs.

The ground where they smoke is stained from spit...as if the smoking itself isn't bad enough.

Why do some of you smokers spit all the time?

Probably trying to get the bad taste out of their mouths

I live in Illinois which is non smoking and was just in Indiana over the weekend which is not. Man it's nice to have one nice thing about living in Illinois.

I wouldn't say that. It's that they don't yet consider it a problem. As to business rights I say that's a bit ridiculous.

Do you expect a restaurant to use safe food handling procedures? If so why?

Glad you brought this strawman up, I like this one.

Yes, I expect a restaurant to use safe food handling procedures. Why? Because I assume going into a restaurant, that they are using safe food handling procedures and not selling spoiled or rotten food. Now, if that restaurant was serving food that could be dangerous, but at least warned me, I wouldn't have a problem with them selling whatever kind of dangerous food they want to. Would you?

Ever notice the disclaimers on menus that state ""Notice: The consumption of raw or undercooked eggs, meat, poultry, seafood or shellfish may increase your risk of food borne illness." ?

Should we just ban all restaurants from serving eggs sunny side up, or medium rare steaks, or raw oysters? Undercooked food would be covered under "unsafe food handling procedures", right?

I wonder what would happen if business owners were given a choice. Put up one of two signs on the front door. 1. No Smoking Inside - Clean Air Here. and 2. Smoking Allowed - Poisoned Air Here.

So no ban, just those two signs.

How would that go over?

I actually think that is a fine idea! Allow the owners of a business to run it how they see fit, but require warning signs at the door to allow the choleric folks out there to realize the horrors of what lies within so they can 'vote with their wallet' and go someplace else.

Since we all have to breath the same air I suggest that all businesses which want to have smoking make themselves into private clubs and make any employees sign contracts that indemnify you from being sued for endangering the health of the employees.

Sounds good also!

Drinkers don't hurt people around them?

It's amazing what statements people will make in defense of their own vices.

But...but...that's different because I do it! :D

call me old and grizzled, but if you don't like the smoke, don't go there....that's the problem I see with so many people these day...they don't like this or don't like, so let's ban it so nobody can do it....then you start gettin' into giant pissing contests between folks over stupidity...bottom line, if you don't like smoking in a pool room, don't go there....if demand is high enough, someone will open room that is smoke-free to cater to you so you can be happy....then those folks who smoke was give their dollars to some place that caters to them and let's them smoke...

That's like saying I can go to the pool hall and throw poop at people like a chimp and if you don't like it, then go someplace else. To my knowledge, there is no law against cupping a fart and holding it over your nose but I wouldn't do that to you. How hard is it to walk outside, smoke, come back in?

It's not, but folks want to turn this into some civil rights issue due to the blantant "unfairness" and disgraceful "way" smokers get treated. boo hoo, cry me a river....

Yeah, pool coulda been a contender, could be the number one sport in America, ESPN was just months away from putting pool on prime time, but then the anti smoking laws hit and pfffft, there went pool's only chance !!
Yep, that was the problem all along, not sure why nobody did not figure it out before.
