I just finished putting captions on all of the 150 photos in this gallery of shots from the 1986 Clyde Childress Memorial Tournament. Thanks to all of you who helped me identify all of the pool players (and some spectators) in this set of photographs. We have turned off the printing option and the downloading of the original files, but you are cordially invited to browse through the gallery. Maybe you'll see someone you know or even yourself!

Bill, I really enjoyed looking at these pictures. They are sure caught in time, and in my book priceless!

Thanks so much!

You obviously have spent a lot of time and effort doing this. Well done. Great pictures.

Well Done

Excellent job! Top shelf.

Does anyone know what make cue Efren was shooting with at that time? There is a good picture of the cue in photo #46.

Keep up the great work Bill.

Thank you very much Mr. Porter, the history captured here is to valuable to have been lost.

Many faces of great players who are now gone and lost to the game.

But through your efforts they will not never be forgotten.

Great Job!!!!! and Thank you very much again!!!!

I always heard the story it was a $45 imported cue(Taiwan or PI)!

It was certainly not an American cue. It was a hideous piece of sh*t. $45 was probably the right price. He used it for years.

I know them all. But the picture was not taken in 1961. It was at least 3,4,5years later.

In your pictures #28 and #29, one of them is printed backwards. They are of David Howard. While it is feasable that he could be shooting opposite handed in one of the pictures, I doubt he would have put his watch on the other wrist too.:)

Very good observation!

You are exactly correct! Thanks for the correction! When I went back to look at the negatives to see how I made this mistake, I saw that there was a short strip of negs with just two images that must have been put into the scanner wrong side up. The other image that was reversed is #127 in the gallery (Russ Matthews). I will go back and correct these two reversed images as soon as I submit this reply. I always appreciate it whenever anyone discovers an error in our galleries.

Thanks!

Thanks for the compliment! I'm just sorry that I don't have more photos to put into galleries. I thought, when I first started putting my old pool pics up on the Internet, that other people might contact me and offer to send along photos they have from past tournaments, but that just hasn't happened. I guess there just aren't that many tournament photographs out there from 20+ years ago. Ed Fields did send my shots he took at the 2006 DCC and we put those in one of our Smugmug galleries.
