Get a NEW BLACK BOAR...around $6,000

Black boars are also known to be great players. There is a lot of engineering in that "plain" cue you see in the photo. Not to worry, there are plenty of people that will pay that price for that cue, even if you guys think it's crazy. Even in this slow cue market the boars still go for big money, but it might take a week to sell instead of a few days.

this isn't the secondary market, in a booming economy, after the release of "the color of money 2"!
it's direct from the maker, economy tanking, and pools popularity in bad need of "the color of money 2"!
if he can get 6k for those, he needs to quit wasting his time on those intricate cues. :groucho:
course he may just be runnin' the price up the AZ flagpole to see if people will pay!?
tik doesnt seem sure about number available or price . . .

hey

Is that cue African Blackwood?

I do believe it is African Blackwood.

The price is $6,000. I also dont think there gonna be around too long. People that have played with his cues ...know how good they are. If anyone has questions about the cues, just give Tony a call.

No reason to foul up this thread. If you don't like the price, don't buy it. Period.

i would like to know the people that buy a plain jane for 6k so i can point and laugh at them...

tony is hands down one of, if not the best cuemaker around today, but i refuse to sit here and stroke his ego on this one. just because he has some asian billionare(s) buying his cues for outlandish prices, he thinks others will too....

I'm in this camp for sure. The elitist rhetoric oozing out of this thread is absolutely repulsive. Let's be real here, most of us here know cues and know what makes them valuable. I suppose you guys are gonna tout a plain jane in your sig or avatar if it's a BB or on the same level? Please...

I'm not trying to justify his prices. I'm just saying what are common thoughts on Black Boar cues. My only point was that these WILL sell for that price, if not here, probably over seas.

Make you kind of feel bad for a lot of cue makers out there that could build a PJ on par with this one in both artistry and playability that couldn't garner a grand for their efforts.

I too am guilty though of playing the value game. Give me a Barry any day at twice the price of something comparable, because I know if I have to sell it, someone will want it

Really?

Six grand for a plain cue with no inlays, Hmmmmm.... No offense to Tony or Steve but IMO that is a stretch. It will be real interesting to see someone buy one and try to sell it later on for anything near the original price...
Good Luck

You put your heart and soul into what you make, set a price, then make your offering. Then you trust the public will accept your work. I wouldn't want it any other way.

I'm a big fan of Black Boar cues but i can't see how a new PJ can go for 6K yet a older 4 pointer (which are the cues i really like) can go for 2.5K with 2 shafts?

I know new Black Boar cues being available on the open market are extremely rare but it still seems a big step up from his older cues. Maybe those old 4 pointers are just very under valued?

well living local to Tony I have seen and played with many . they play extremely well but so do a lot of other cues . his 4 pt cues dont seam to play as good as his newer cues do . his shafts are of highest quality .

Part of the reason his cues have gone up is supply and demand . and a little know fact that a area cue collector friend of his has bought up every one he can find and is sitting on them .he himself has well over a mil. in cues . I heard Tony was getting a little pressure about not making his cues more available that were less than 10K and that he was going to put some out at around 5k . I guess it has become 6k . its all in the eye of the beholder if that's what you like buy one .

I do know it is very rare that you see a black boar owner who is unhappy with his cue. that ought to tell you something right there

In reference to your statement above I will agree with you, but I doubt that any of the black boar owners you are referring to paid $6K for a plain cue with no points, no inlays, and no trim rings.

I am fairly new to this forum but I know pool cues (and their value). I believe the only item of information Steve (Tikkler) was trying to convey was that there are some Black Boar cues that are going to be for sale to the general public very soon for a certain amount of money. If you do not fully appreciate the value of Black Boars do not inquire about purchasing one. There are so many people who do like to bash threads with their opinions of what value should be placed on an item or not. This may offend a few people but I feel compelled to speak my mind. JMHO...

Chris

BTW - I do not know Steve nor do I plan I purchasing one of the cues mentioned above.
