Getting to the points

Mike Dechaine took a calculated risk when accepted an invitation to play in the Mohegan Sun Trick Shot event over a shot at the US Open. At risk was his Mosconi Cup spot. Lying in second place behind Shane VB in an automatic spot he must have figured that the gap to third place would not be bridged by the following pack.

Imagine his dismay when he was told by the ABP that their two events (Louisiana and Atlanta were now confimed as Mosconi Cup points awards. Because the prize money was not high enough he had intended not to attnd them. But he contacted Matchroom who told him that the ABP had asked to have their events included but they refused the request.
So Mike was deliberatey fed false info.

According to this, Mike Dechaine has more to worry about as he just lost roughly 20 points!!! Plus, no one has posted EXACTLY how many points get awarded for places 1st to 32nd at the open so he truely can sleep well!!!

This final list is up to date before the US Open. Also on the same page is the allocation of points list. This shows that Mike is 98 points clear. So his gamble is that none of his rivals make better than 4th place where the points tally is only 80 points

What a bunch of BS going on with these 8-10 good ol boys that call themselves "the ABP". I hope Mike leaks out the name of the person or persons that told him this crap. Now they are screwing with a players livelyhood. Just another few nails in the ABP pine box. Years ago if this was done on purpose someone would have hit the floor already, but of course now everyone has a lawyer so they can say the coward line of, "If you hit me I'll sue." Johnnyt

PS:Mike would have an extra day to make the US Open anyway.

Do you mean he is going to be allowed to arrive a day late to the Open? I don't think that is fair, if that is what you mean.

I thought that was what Barry or Jay said on AZ. I believe the Emerald players are getting an extra day also...if that's not been changed. Johnnyt

And I strongly feel this is unfair to the rest of the players who have to incur all the expenses of attending the Open the extra day(s).

There has been more points awarded then 140 if you look closely you will see. One event issued 156!

You get my point though . So, enough said! Plus, 5 thru 8th don't play off for the additional points and no clue how that is decided?

Its all just very cloak and dagger. I don't have my secret decoder ring to understand what should be very transparent!

Mike is playing in the trick shot portion of the International Tournament
which is the last day of the three day event so he is playing at the Mohegan Sun Casino on Oct. 25 (Thurs) and there for will not be playing in the U.S.
Open at all.

The BS that the ABP was trying to tell Mike about the Emerald and Johnny Archer events must be the reason that Matchroom came out with the clarification press release about which events count toward Mosconi Cup points, how lame of them to try and tell Mike that BS.

Anyone starting to see a pattern with the CW's BS, LOL.
But I'm sure someone will come along and say it was just another mistake
because someone always does, how do they cross the street alone?

ABP seems to be spreading the FUD pretty well. If you can't join em, confuse the heck out of them.

Even if promoters mess up on scheduling??

How can a promote mess up on scheduling? You have promoters who have had their dates published years in advance. That's a promoter.

Then you have others who are trying to control American pool by deliberately, with malice aforethought, scheduling their events to conflict with those that have been scheduled years in advance. I don't call those entities "promoters." I call them "Charlie Williams."

What a shame innocent players get caught up in the political B.S. This is pool politics at its finest.

As far as Matt Braun or "Billiards International Limited," well, he's been doing this long enough that he should have somebody within his operation making sure his dates do not happen at the same time as major high-profile pool happenings, especially the U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship.

Is Allen Hopkins still a part of the International Challenge of Champions or whatever they're calling it these days, or is it Matt Braun solo now?

This issue should be taken up with Barry. He changed his dates this year and overlapped Matt events. He is giving that players that are playing the Challenge of Champions that Wednesday off but decided not to give me the same opportunity. I do understand though, Thursday is a much busier day than Wednesday. O well.

Wow! I stand corrected, then, Mike. I had no idea Barry changed his dates. Since the U.S. Open won't be at the Conference Center this year, I guess he had to adjust the schedule to meet the hotel's (host site) schedule.

If he gives those players the day off for Wednesday, then, by golly, you deserve the same. That is only fair!

I think the issue was with the ABP giving out bad info to you about ranking points and what they count for, and I see you were listed as a member or ABP. Maybe there is not much choice there seeing the overall lack of a player union or an organization. I wish the BCA would get their act together and promote a pro tour and organize all the different independent events into at least some type of structure, along with having a place for players to register their status and have some benefits to doing so.

Where does it say that I am a member??

Well you're listed as first on their points ranking list, weren't you.
No of coarse that doesn't say outright that you are a member but it certainly implies the same.

I'm wrong I guess it does say Mike is a member. I remembered it as just a list, guess I missed that first line: "The current top 16 ABP pros are"
I stand corrected.

ABP misleading the players.

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=291132

This thread (which I started) states:

I also have heard (from a pretty solid source) that CW has told several players that the ABP points will be recognized by the BCA. Also that the ABP points will become the BCA points system. (Which is not going to happen).

IF that is true, CW is beyond misleading, he is lying.

Maybe this is happening more than we realize?
I cannot figure out if Dechaine is a member or not - but it sure suggests he is.

More Confusion???
