I understand Hollywood Billiards in Los Angeles is hosting the Ca state women's championship tournament this weekend. Hopefully Melissa Herndon, Tina Pawloski, and Melinda Huang will be playing.

Any other ladies on this forum playing in the event?

If anyone is going to be at the tournament, updates when you can post them would be greatly appreciated.

Good luck to all my Cali Girls...Wish I was there too:(

I hear about 31 ladies put their best shot forward and of course Mellisa (Herdon) and Mellisa (Morris) is there. The Rankin sisters (Michelle and Mary) made the trip. Jenny Lee, Stephany Bach...

All my Cali girls: Hila_Hilla (Hillery), Tina Palowski, Melinda (OMGWTF), Brook Thompson, Sue... Oh, I hope I didn't forget someone - Good luck! I hope Hydred made it too:)

I'm picking Melissa H. from the field. Only one of the Rakin girls might beat her.

Some field. Good to see Jenny 'tough as nails' Lee back out there. If im in a fight, I want her 4' 10" on my side.

Not pickin anyone but ill bet there'll be a Rakin in he final.
 
Hi everyone! Quick update for ya....

4 left on the winners side. I will be playing Jenny Lee today, and Helen Gaughran will be playing Michlle Rakin.

8 left on the one-loss side. Tina Palowski, Hilary Morse, Sue Lance, Stacy Hurst, Melissa Morris, Susan Mello, Cami Chou and I forget who the 8th is! I'm sorry!!!!

We had 39 ladies make it out...which is a decent size field.

I'll post a final update later tonight! Thanks to everyone for their support and for rooting their horses on!!!

Well it wasn't my tournament this time :(

Congrats to Michelle Rakin, who played wonderfully and beat me in the finals! She had the hot seat, and I would have needed to beat her twice to retain my title. But, she only needed one set to shut me down and claim the title of 2008 CA State Champion.

Jenny Lee, who I had to coax out of retirement to even play the event, had a great tournament....finishing third. Melissa Morris played great and finished fourth.

Helen Gaughran and Hilary Morse finished 5/6th.

It was a good tournament...and my sincerest thanks to Hollywood Billiards, Anne Craig, Taz Brooker of the South Coast APA (my tournament director), Ned Morris of Morris Custom Cues (who donated a custom cue for raffle), and Linda Carter (rackmsucker) for her donation of a cruise to the Bahamas.

As for me....there's always next year ;)
 
Wow Congrats! Werent you recently brought out of retirement yourself? Amazing Jenny Lee recently gave birth to a child and has a home to run. Lets see any male champion do that. Kudos to Michelle Rakin and her family. Next year Melissa!

I never went completely into retirement really. I was definitely considering it...and there was a long stretch of time where I played absolutely no pool whatsoever. As a matter of fact...playing Jay's 10-ball tournament 2 weekends ago and the state championship this past weekend...that was the most pool I have played in a looooooong time. And I played OK :p

Anyhow, much love to you and the Santa Monica boys. I know that, even if I retired, I am always welcome there!

All State Championships are qualifiers for the US Open. So she has a paid spot into the 2008 US Open in Oklahoma in August.

When and where? I can always use more bling ;) (But let's keep this private...I'm not interested in some big internet hoopla where everyone gets involved and then I have to play you on streaming internet so that all the railbirds ca watch me become your latest victim :D . I just couldn't take the humiliation. I mean...no one has even heard from that last guy...)
