Hand-Carved African Pool Table is worth how much?

The base of the pool table was hand carved in Africa. The African Jungle Theme is intricately designed with several scenes along the sides of the table, as well as having an Elephant, Rhino, Hippo, and Bull carved into the tables' legs. The whole carved base can be disassembled into eight pieces, plus the green felt top.

I don't know much of its history.

The Carver signed his/her name into it: Mikita

When I was given this table, I was told it was worth about $5,000.

How much do you think it could go for?

is it made out of real africans?lol

post some pictures of it. where's the table at now? what part of africa was it made in and how long has it been in the states? that is if it's in the states

Wow! What a neat conversation piece that would be. Definitely 1 of a kind.

Is the bed 1" slate? How many pieces is the slate? What size is the table, 7', 8' or 9'? What kind of rails are on it? How does it play? Where is it located?

Joe

!! Wow !!

I am utterly speechless for the base wood carvings.

That is a treasure.

Interesting curve of the bumpers next to the pockets, just like a snooker table with larger pockets. Great carvings. If the wood and the slate are in good condition, it should be $5,000+ easy.

The 1" slate bed did not come with it. It was lost during transfer here (I don't know how). It's 1" ply-wood, in one piece. The Table is 8' and has either Oak or Cherry wood rails. It plays great though. It's smooth, no bumps or tears. And it's located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Bet slate was lost due to someone not wanting or able to move it.
Cool ass table.

Woth a lot more if a Nigerian prince owned it before you did.
Without the slates that go with it, you won't get much interest .

I agree. This is a great piece of artwork, but as a functional table. You will be pretty hard pressed to find much interest without a proper slate playing field.

OK, so there is no slate. However, being that I'm a person that doesn't know much about pool tables, if I had it in my own house I would never have even known the difference. I've used it before and had no clue it wasn't slate. So, its still playable, and looks awesome and is unique. So, without the slate, what could I sell it on ebay for? Does it drop to 3,000 instead of 5,000. Or what? Of course, if anyone has anything else to comment, please do.
