Has All Civility Been Lost Here On AZ?

Aside from all of the usual rudeness we see in some threads, the mean spiritedness, etc., there is yet another pattern I have noticed (experienced) emerging, well two, actually, that I find disconcerting.

I get a fair amount of correspondence via pm, some asking my opinion on a value or whatever, sometimes just looking for general info on something the other party might think I can help with.

Since I do like to be helpful, and I prefer not to do things half-assed, I always try to provide a good, thoughtful, detailed response. Yes, I take my time and respond comprehensively.

Guess what I get back in return sometimes?

Zip, zero, nada, nothing.

No, 'thanks, I appreciate it', no 'I thought that might be the case, thx for confirming it for me', just no response whatsoever.

I just took time out of my life to assist you with something and you can't take the three seconds to say thanks?

And the other thing is this. Serve & Spice!

If you read something on az that you really like, enjoy or agree with, send that poster some green rep. I do it daily.

Ahhhhhhh, now I feel better.

thanks.

best,
brian kc

green rep

How do you send a player green rep?

You do a good job Kicken! Don't let the haters get you down!

Below the username and Avatar there is a green plus sign and a red caution sign. Click the green + and a menu will prompt you on your screen.

thx, I don't get down, really. Just like to let people know it isn't very hard to be civil.

on the bottom left side of each post is a green button with a + sign.

Click that, decide if it's green rep or red, leave a comment, then click it.

I havent had that.

I find in the PM world everyone is pretty nice.

The only deal that got me, was a guy that was not a moderator *****ing about someone bumping threads.

Geez, get a life.

Anything I have asked for I have found folks have done for me (AND MORE).

So I disagree with your premise.

JAM thinks that most of us are awful towards professional players. I dont think that is true either. I have never heard a bad word about SVB and other players.

I think we dont give bad behavior a pass, however.

I think about the civil rights and how everyone preaches that everyone should be treated equally. I agree with it. But as you get older you start to better understand that people dont want to be treated equally, they want to be treated better than everyone else with special considerations and privaledges.

Best of rolls,

Ken

That's good, however my experience with the PM's was a little different, so as a good verified member on op dot org and also here, would you now join me in requesting that San Jose Dick be allowed to return to the MB. I'm sure he has cooled down and will behave. He is not in the best of shape and this is one of his main hobbies. He was not serious about any threats at all and wouldn't anything like that. Thank you. If his ban has already been lifted, liet me know and I will call him.

I used to believe in people being civil to each other and keeping moral high. Usually makes for a better environment. However now...I don't see the purpose, it's a shit fest anyway...I'm not here to stand out.

Civility lost.....

Must be blind...?? I do NOT see a + sign at the bottom left of any of these posts...what am I missing...??

It's green, and at the bottom of their avatar, below their "location" on the left... a green box with a plus sign, right next to the red box !!

I'm going to send Brian a V Hug. He's one of the best posters here!

Sidenote: There's 6 different formats to view this message board. Go the the bottom-most left of the page and play with them. Kickin is using "Azb V4" (which has a real small font). The default is "Tech 2", which I find drab in color. I am romantically attached to Azb vB 3. All have different fonts, icons and layouts.

I agree Brian.

I like to send "Thanks in advance" on most of PM's asking for info, and will still send a thank you PM. The information that I have access to through the members of this site is STAGGERING. There is a vast amount of knowledge to be gained here, and I am much appreciative of those who provide it. I send out Green rep whenever I can. Even if I don't care for a member, I will still send them some green for a good post. (there are only 4-5 members i'm not real fond of.)

This place is like my online home. I spend far more time here then any other site. I like the people here better than any other forum. I think the fact that we have so many here feel the same, it actually warms my heart a bit when we as a community police from within, call someone on their BS, take jabs at each other here and there for fun. Reminds me of my family actually. The only other community I've been apart of that has such a similar passion, and camaraderie is the racing community. (The same guy you want to beat into the ground is the same guy you're helping get his car home when he breaks.) Outside of a very select few, I feel that most people on this forum are good folks.

All in all, this is the place to be if you have a love for the game. The best piece of advice I can give anyone here is, respect the elders here, welcome the new-comers, and try to learn as much as you can. When someone helps, thank them. When someone is being attacked unwarranted, defend them. Post funny pics, hand out greens and reds accordingly, and never make a grammatical error when in a flame war.

All the best,

KK9-

Thanks....I wasnt finding it either(green/red rep button). I use the vB 3.

So, now I know..

Brian...civility is not present on the 91 freeway commute out here most of the time either...must be a highway thing -paved or electronic.

...don't get me started about the direct correlation between lack of turn signals, instantaneous lane changes, and my favorite, 'the not entering the cue for the off ramp 1/2 mile prior, like most of us, but instead, stop all traffic as they cut over at the lassssssst possible moment move' ...and the probability that the offender is driving a newish, and expensiveish foreign made fine luxury automobile.:eek:

..since we're ranting:(:(

btw...NEWS FLASH: It is raining in SoCal today. The drive will be lovely...the rain brings out even odder behavior in drivers, cause it's such a rare event.;)

ps: Brian..greened ya, but didn't see a place for comments. Would have been..'you got that shit right'

This forum is no different from anything else. You have to ignore the bad and focus on the good.

This gathering place has given so many opportunities for information and opinion to be shared and considered, it enables me to disregard many responces without hesitation. I personally choose not to feel accountable or responsible for the practices of others. I believe in any arena there will be a spectrum of personalities that bring a host of differences to reckoned with, and in this one, as many have alluded too, being behind a keyboard offers, to a degree, anonymity. Considering my average social interaction is very cordial and friendly, it will always be my goal to represent myself in a similar fashion. I understand the propensity for people to stop involving themselves in anything when encountering negativity, and it saddens me to realize the wealth of information and sincere efforts to empower those with common passions are in many cases now gone forever. I will always have hope for civility yet I can only be responsible for myself. I am grateful to whoever was involved in any way of giving us AZ Billiards. Thank You !
