Have you known the butt of a cue 2 slightly warp in transit (through USPS 4 example)?

I got a PM telling me there was a ShitStorm going on , 6 pages when I found out .

Not sure what to say . Hundreds of AZer's have read this ShitStorm , and will never see the results , He Finally Sot With The Cue and Loves It . They will be thinking the worst for ever .

Surprised me that it never came out that we are dealing with a Old Helstetter , probably 25 to 30 yrs old , and I DID not get down and lay on the table to see it like he did , I did roll the cue and it looked good , after we put the new pin in and built the new shaft .

I was asking ?? not sure at that time but $425 or $450 . shipped . Justin PMed me and asked if I would take $450 . telling me how much he lover the points and veneers , but could never find one for the price , or something like that . We settled on $300 . Him paying the 10 bucks . I felt sorry he said he had a old J & J case , so to help him and protect the cue I put it in a New J & J case , no charge , but of course that extra weight raised the cost of shipping I had to pay also .

My shop helper had the cue at his house when this came down , becouse he Loved the way the cue Shot . I had hit several raks with it , and hated to sell it , but my wifes health and mine don't let us keep anything becouse every dime I make goes toward DR bills and medicines .

Roxy is out of Hospital , it was a procedure to check the blood presure between her heart and lungs . Its better but a long way to go .

I guess I should have checked the cue better , could not beleive I would run into another Nit .

Better go , wife needs me to make her some breakfast . She can.t cook any more , or anything else for that matter .

Justin did leave me nice Itrader , not sure what I will do , but I never like burning anyone , even if they deserve it .

Stuff

I am really very sorry. Now I feel like a really horrible person. I know that I have probably now lost most peoples respect on here, so I am not posting this next line in hopes of winning back any ones respect (or anything else).

I sanded off the finish (using some 1,000 grit sandpaper), and I played for the 1st time with it (in a tournament tonight), after not playing any pool for a long time, and really fell in love with the cue. It hits super nice, and I played better then I have played in a very long time. Not trying to brag, but I won the tournament (around $350, with the Calcutta). It was my 1st time playing in the tournament (and I was an unknown, so they ranked me as a 6), and after I won it, the guy who runs it told me that I could never come back to play in it again (because they do not allow 7's, even though I do not play in any leagues). Anyways, the Helmstetter cue hits super nice in my opinion, and I really love it now.

I am very happy with the cue now (after finding out how it actually hits).

Again, I am not trying to win (or earn) any ones respect on here. Just saying that I really love the cue now, and no longer wish to return it.

I never actually asked Jim for a refund, and I think that I actually told him that I really do love the cue (but was just unhappy after seeing the roll out in the joint area, and thought that I was unhappy with the shaft).

I admit that I am the bad guy in this situation, because I thought that I could get Jim to build me a 2nd shaft for free (due to the roll out in the butt, and because I thought that I was unhappy with the shaft he sent me with the cue).

But after sanding off the finish (this evening), the shaft feels really great.

I honestly believe that either Jim did not know about the warp in the butt (because it really is such a slight and hard to see roll out), or maybe the butt did warp during transit.

I believe that Jim is a good and honest seller (and he is also a very nice person).

He did send me a nice hard 1x1 j&j case (for free) with the cue, after I told him that I just had a cheap tube case for it.

The case he sent me was an upgrade though, because it has a nice shoulder strap (much better then the one on my tube case), and a pouch (which my tube case does not have).

I think it is a great cue, and well worth what I paid for it.

I am happy now, and if there is anything that I can do to fix this mess of a thread that I created, then I will try my best to do it.

I am not sure if any good can be done though at this point.

All that I can say is that I am now very happy with the cue.

I now have myself a great player, that I really also love the looks of.

I really hope that Jim's wife will be okay, and I hope that they both will live a long and happy life.

Hopefully everything will be okay, with Jim and his wife.

I understand that I am done for on this forum (and I understand why most people on here probably hate me), but hopefully I have fixed this mess of a thread.

I am glade you like the cue now....
I think Jims wife is ok at this time, I don't know if she is out of the hospital yet or not.

I am not your enemy,
I don't dislike you.

You jumped the gun ,,, you are burning bridges .
Don't say your sorry , just don't do it anymore .

Lol. You may as well say "chill" to a drug addict. This is the guy that started a thread because a guy couldn't respond to him about a trade within 36 hours. He is clueless.

He has issues. I think the board would be well advised to just ignore him, not respond to threads, and most of all....not do any deals with him. He has a proven track record of being flippant and juvenile.

That is sound advice. DO NOT RESPOND to future threads and he will slither away.

wow is all i can say........what an epic pile of bullshit.

glad everthings "seemed" to have worked itself out.....like we need a H.R. class on how to not act like a donkey for newbs.

Thats the chit thing. Thread gets put up bunch of people see what was "wrong" and will probably never know the resolution or that Jims def no bad guy here.....same thing goes for "important" threads and the dumb crap that enmass puts them in the shadows.

he's good by me and i'd never hesitate to do business with the man. Still looking for some of that old phenolic i have somewhere so he can make me some caps for my SW.

Edit (update): I played with the cue for the 1st time tonight (after sanding off the sticky finish that was on it, with 1,000 grit sand paper), and I no longer care about the roll out in the cue, and the shaft feels really nice (and hits really great, in my opinion). I played better pool then I have played in a very long time (and won a local tournament here, with a pretty decent cash prize, this evening), and I am now very happy with the cue. It is an awesome cue in my opinion.

Very sorry for all of the mess that I have caused.

There really is not any reason for any of you to read any further.

I really regret creating this thread now.

Case closed (hopefully)

...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Okay, so I recently purchased this cue, and just received it in the mail.

Upon rolling it on a few different pool tables, I can see light under the joint (and there is variance in the roll, in the joint area and part of the forearm).

The shaft rolls good and straight when attached to the butt, and the tip remains flat on the table (and there is really no taper roll in the shaft, due to the nice full stiff taper in the shaft), but there is a hair of variance in the roll under the joint area, and part of the forearm.

It is just a hair of a roll out, and you really need to be up close looking at it during the roll test, but I can see light under the joint and part of the forearm, and variance in the joint and forearm when the cue is rolled.

I contacted the seller, and he told me that he checked the roll before shipping the cue out, and it rolled just fine.

He told me that extreme temperature changes during transit could have caused the cue butt to warp a little, and that with time, it should return to being straight again.

I find this very hard to believe (since it was only in transit for 2 days, and it did go across the country, by air), but maybe it is true.

Have you ever known a cue butt to slightly warp during transit (within the US), and then straighten out after a certain amount of time (and if so, how long did it take to straighten out again)?

I am not wanting to possibly hurt the sellers rep on here (so not going to say who the seller is).

Just wanting to find out how true (what the seller told me) his info is, and what the odds are of this actually happening?

I really love the cue, but just kind of disappointed that the butt has a very slight warp in it.

Thanks for any info about this.

This guy is a complete joke. 300 dollar cue? You got alot of nerve. There's no fixing you son.

I give up. I tried to make things right. I am sure Jim Baxter's business will be just fine. Nobody here respects me anyways, so I do not see how little me could possibly ruin his good rep.

Thanks for the friendly words. I really do feel very bad now. Hopefully I did not do any harm to Jim's business. He is a great cue maker, and the very small issue with the Helmstetter should not harm his business (at least, I hope not). I understand that there is nothing I can do now, to help this situation (what has been said and posted by me has already been read ), but hopefully most of the same people who read it will come back and see that I am happy with the cue now. After playing with it, the cue is well worth the $300 to me. I can't change the post or edit the way I posted. All that I can say is that I am sorry (to Jim ). Hopefully everyone will forget this issue.

Justin,
Don't be honked or upset at what all of the idiots on this forum have said about you. Or how they trashed you for what you did or said. There is a TON of that stuff that goes on here. They have done it to me a bunch the last 10-15 years. They twist things around and put their own spin on it and then others jump in to join the witch hunt.

To heck with them. Just say or do what you want. Who gives a sh~t what others on this forum think or say. All you need to do is worry about the moderators. Fortunately they seem to understand a great deal.

You may as well figure if you post a thread that around 1/4 to 1/3 will be stupid responses by stupid people. Ignore that and focus on the good responses.

Thanks for the nice reply. In my case though, I feel lucky if even 1/4th of the replies are nice, or agree with my point of view. Most people here (that do reply) do not agree with my point of view most of the time. They either insult me, or make jokes, and make fun. If there are mods viewing my threads (and reading all of the replies I receive), then it is pretty clear to me that they do not care (and allow all of the nasty comments and insults). The fact is that yeah, I was really unhappy about the roll out in the butt of the cue (as most buyers on here would have been, I imagine), and I thought that I was also unhappy with the shaft (so overall, I was unhappy with the cue). I did not know the right way to get all of the sticky finish off of the shaft (and that just upset me even more, because I not only had a slightly warped cue, but I had a cue that I could not figure out a comfortable way to play with), to make it nice and smooth. I used 1,000 grit sandpaper on the shaft, but it only stays smooth temporarily (had to keep using the 1,000 grit sand paper in between matches). But I really love the way the cue hits (when it is not sticky from the finish), and I played really well with it, with a lot of confidence (just had to keep using the 1,000 sand paper on it, every 5 or 6 games). Anyways, yeah I was upset (as I am sure most of you guys, who are bashing me, would have been), but now I am happy with the cue. I do not know. Maybe I am just making things worse by writing all of this. Just trying to make people understand my feelings about the situation. I felt like I over paid for the cue (that is a little warped, and should have been perfectly straight, at least in the butt section, which is the most valuable part of a cue). If I ever need to sell it (which might be soon), who knows if I will be able to, and for how much. I am really sorry, but $300 is a lot of money to me. I really should not be buying cues that I can't afford to hold on to in the 1st place, but it is an addiction (buying cues that I love the looks of). I guess I am just adding wood to the fire with every post that I make, and no matter what I post, I can't win with most of you guys.

There is no fixing you either. You have an extremely bad attitude. $300 may not be much money to you, but it is a lot of money to me. It hurts to be stuck with a cue (that I paid $300 for) that I may not be able to resell. I do really love the cue now, but I know that I will probably need to sell it sometime in the future, and who knows how much I will be able to get out of it (with full and honest disclosure about its condition).

I am very sorry (to Jim Baxter), but I was only posting out of anger in my feelings about the cue's condition.

Justin , I can kinda see where you are coming from BUT, it was just several days ago with your other thread with you freaking out because the guy from that deal didn't get back to you within a day or whatever it was. Everyone told you then that you were acting totally inappropriately ( with not allowing that dude a chance to get back with you - as everyone said then, people do have lives, responsibilities and their lives do not revolve around you and a $100 dollar cue. IIRC, you even admitted you had jumped the gun and I think you may have apologized as well - ( which was the right thing to do ). Now probably not even a week later you come right back on here and do the exact same thing! But this time you even stepped it up a notch! This time you do it to an extremely well known member with 400 ( FOUR HUNDRED !) PERFECT FEEDBACK none the less. Then you hear about his wife, hospital, etc and say how bad you felt then ( once again as you DEFINITELY SHOULD HAVE!!!!) Anyway do you even remotely kinda see what we are getting at???

Its all over if I understand correctly.
The age of the cue , the fact you talked him down allot, on the price of the cue
Jim threw in a nice case , his wife in the hospital,.
Jim has had a heart attack.

You Jumped the gun.
Figure out how you did this so you will not do it again, ABC simple.

Its personal to you, its not to us in less you would of given Jim a hard time when he has health issues and his wife is depending on him to help her.

As said Its not personal, I don't hold this against you, ( you didn't know )
And once you did know you backed 100% off (Thank you )

Buying and sometimes selling used production cues is a real good way to make a enemy or get into some kind of transaction dispute with some one that you don't want to have ill feelings toward .
Figure all the costs of doing business ..and the risk of buying and selling the cues you have been buying selling.
