I don't believe that it's sapelle. Looks like just a variety of rosewood to me.

Looks like Palmwood, I see alot of it, Here in Florida there is a lot of carving done with it as well as turning for walking canes, and there is also varity called black Palm, Bobby Jett made me a SP out of Maple and Black Palm.Was a good player but a little light for me at 17.8 but had a real solid hit.:thumbup:

i dont think its sapele or alves. it looks like a palm wood just looking on the grains on it. But not so sure...

It looks like the wood that was brought in by the container loads from Brazil to build bar cues with. Viking used to refer to it as Brazilian Hardwood and used it in their low end cues.
