Help Needed for Fellow AZer to Get to Her First Pro Event

Thanks Nathan. I was politely suggesting that she check with Ashley and find out how much of that $1,200 she actually needs. Perhaps she can handle a few hundred on her own. Personally I think it's a good thing if Ashley invests some money herself. That way she has a vested interest in the outcome. If others foot the entire bill, where is her incentive to do well?

She knows about it now and has been overwhelmed with emotions about the outpouring.

I don't want to air her business but she had no chance of going at all on her own. NONE. Furthermore, no, she does not have the money to contribute to the total. If she places well at the OB Stop this weekend in Tulsa that would be a different story and I will personally refund all the extra money, Jay.

Her incentive to do well was shown to me tonight full force when she called me crying about even the POSSIBILITY of being able to play with the pros - her goal and dream.

I am not asking people to sponsor her, I am asking to help fulfill someone's dream. It isn't easy to get invites anymore on the WPBA - she worked hard all year to win a spot to the Regional Tour Championship in January. And today she was invited to the WOMEN's U.S. OPEN due to a last minute cancellation because she was next on the list. WOW!

I can't really put into words how amazed I am by even one person responding! It's really touching, and me being a big softy I cried my little eyes out.

This whole thing came up EXTREMELY suddenly (this morning). I had just come down to Texas after saving up everything I could to see my best friends in the world. So, this opportunity was pretty much an automatic "no" after living on top ramen and a few martinis from my girls. They found out about the invite while I was still nursing my throbbing head from my birthday party. Melinda knew my situation and took it upon herself and is hereby made a saint in my book.

Anyways, I really would love to thank everyone in person....however if you came up to me and talked about it....I'd probably turn into Alice Cooper from the mascara!

Sincerely, thank you all so much

Melinda,

I don't do paypal but is there a PO box or an addy that I can send a check to help with expenses? I can't beat the deadline for the entry fee.
Good fortune.

BTW - Another nice avatar.:)

Forgot to mention . . .

If Ashley doesn't make it to the big event for any reason, just use my little contribution towards some of her other efforts in pool. Not worth the headache of refunding the money.

Melinda,

You are in serious danger of ruining your "bad girl" reputation! When anybody needs a helping hand you usually aren't far away. A very sincere thanks for all that you do.

Melinda, I think it's great that you are doing this for Ashley. I only have one question for you. Is Ashley putting any money in herself or is she looking for a total free ride? I hope this doesn't sound like to harsh a question, but I have my reasons for asking.

Jay. I respect your opinion. But I think your post was totally inapproriate for this thread and not the best judgment. Could of been handled offline if you needed to know. But you get to ask questions as do i. No problem. I"m just stating my opinion.

Hey AZ Family!

I am here to ask for help. I don't normally do this, so I am out of my element. :o

Ashley Nandrasy (HellzonHeels) just got her FIRST invite to a WPBA Pro Tournament!!

However, she does not have the funds to go. I am reaching out to our AZB friends to see if we can get her there!

She would need $500 entry, $125 dues, and hotel expenses. So, about $1,200 total. She is currently in Texas and can easily drive to the U.S. Open In Norman, Oklahoma so it's great she wont need flight expenses.

She needs to let the WPBA know, though, by NOON tomorrow (Thursday, July 22) or she has to pass on her first invite.

If you can help in anyway, I and her friends would greatly appreciate this (she doesn't know I am doing this ). My paypal is MELLBERS@gmail.com.

If we happen to raise the $1,200, I will let you all know asap and then giver her the cash. If we do not raise enough for her to go, I will refund all monies collected tomorrow afternoon.

I can't not give this a try. I'm all about people reaching their dreams.

Sincerely,
Melinda (akaTrigger)

P.S. mlalum has already put in $100 to start this fundraiser off. Thanks mlalum!

Melinda ,

I think what your doing is great. I know how Ashly must feel. Manny was broken hearted that we did not have any sponsors to help us get him to the BEF nationals this year, It would have been his first trip there. He was so much looking forward to doing well there at the nationals and try to represent the US at the world jr championship.

Well anyway we want to help Ashley out and Manny is taking money out of his tournament fund to help her, It ain`t much but its what he has. Tell Ashley good luck from me and the Kansas city kid ( Manny Perez).

Mr Perez, you sir should be very proud of your son, you raised him right.
For a young man to donate his tourney money to help a fellow player is awsome. Keep up the good work and best of luck to Manny he deserves it.

I could see if we were staking someone for a profit, but this is a gift for someone to relieze their dream. Johnnyt

We have $991 raised as of this moment!

Thank you for your VERY generous offer! I did not get a pm or email so I'm not sure what to do at this point, as this was your first post and I don't know who you are.

We only have a few hours left til she has to get back to the WPBA!

Thank you so much everyone! I will jump back on AZB after my meeting and give another total update!

Wow!

You all are AMAZING!!!! Thank you SO MUCH for all of your contributions to get Ashley to her very first Pro Event!!!! This is just fantastic. I know that Ashley will give it her all - she always does! She is a very determined young lady! I mean, afterall, look at the shoes she wears! ;)

I tried to rep everyone, but I have to wait another 24 hrs before I can dish out more of the good stuff. :)

WOW! Just WOW! Melinda - you are a fine example of a wonderful human being and friend. I guess that's why we all love you so much! :):) You have done a truly awesome thing here. I am proud of everyone for coming together....simply awesome.

Peace!

PoolDawg just sent over a few bucks since Ashley was nice enough to pose with our mascot Frank at the BCAPL event in May. Best of luck at the US Open!

Well I for one would try much harder if i was on someone else's money. After all i have the right to waste my own money but not others. Id have to be a real schmuck to do that.

We are not talking about some low life desperado pool hustler here but a young lady badly wanting to realize her dream of playing in her first WPBA event.

wow jay, relax..

I, for one, don't care how hard she 'tries'. I would love to hear that she went out there and played comfortably not thinking that she might let someone down.

dld

i had a similar thought. on one hand, she might really buckle down and try her hardest... maybe too hard; on the other hand this could be the inspiration/motivation she needed to help her game to the next level.

obviously we all want to see her do well, but i'm pretty sure that she'll be putting herself under enough pressure, and I really hope she doesn't add an extra because of this.
