Herman Rambow for sale!

I am putting my Herman Rambow up for sale. I am accepting offers as of now. I will tell you this; I have a reserve on this cue that is what the "Blue Book of Cues" says it is worth. If you have the BBoC, you will pretty much be able to determine what I am wanting to get for the cue. The cue's condition is 75-80% according to what the Hall of Fame cue builder that reglued the joint told me.

The cue does have "By Rambow" on it...along with the buyer's initials on the shaft. It comes with only one shaft so I deducted for that accordingly.

Given all of those details, you should be able to get within a couple hundred dollars of what I am determining as the reserve.

Thanks,
TT

Since everyone reads that book differently don't be so sure that YOU and someone else will come out with the same numbers. :)

Good luck.

In no way meaning to be disrespectful, but why not just post what you want for the cue?

It strikes me odd that there are clues dropped indicating how potential buyers could determine your price by getting out their BBOC reference and looking it up.

Am I missing some logic or sales strategy?

Couple of questions. Was the cue refinished and the script re-traced? The shaft looks sanded at the joint and the letters look like they have been restored. Also, would like to see a pic of the whole cue please.

i thought it might just be an open book test maybe for on the spot cue collector pricing.....i mean everyone that knows anything knows the BB is just there for the pretty pictures not the pricing lol....

he should just release the BB as a software...that way we can just have automatic downloads of the "current" market pricing lol

for those of us not owning a bluebook can you scan the bluebook page you are using as a reference so we know what price ballpark you are in. I gather that you seem to believe that all serious collectors have the bluebook, but that is not the case.

Are the points solid ebony?

Is it a titlist house cue or a solid point cue with a hoppie ring.
Is it a 21 ounce cue? Is the shaft over 11mm?
Plerase show the forearm of the cue.

My thoughts exactly...for as much bluing on the shaft, you would think the lettering would be worn somewhat too!

Agreed. Make it easy on your buyers and post good pics and an asking price. There are cues posted every week on this site that are one of a kind and sell for 3x the value of this cue. There are many of these around (I have 3) and it's value is not astronomical. Stop beating around the bush and you may get it sold.

I'm lost. Sounds to me like your trying to get bids for it. If so just stick it on ebay with a starting price and let her rip. If you want to outright sell it here I suggest asking yourself what you really want for it and post that price and get r done! Good Luck it's a nice looking cue.

I don't think that a book that says you can get a Barry Szamboti cue with four points and four veneers in 95% condition for $2,100 is the ultimate reference guide for buying and selling cues... I believe I'd consider Mr. Hoppe's opinion MUCH closer to the actual value.

Yes, however that is one of maybe 4-6 cuemakers that have gone UP. That is not even taking into account that maybe the Rambow section was inflated due to the guy submitting the pricing having the biggest collection.

...and the Blue Book says:

*Plain Hoppe style in 70% condition - $2,500

*Add $1,500 for Rambow's name

*Add $500 for the customer's name

*Add $1,000 for butt wood other than rosewood

*Deduct $450 for one original shaft

I would certainly hate to buy realestate today from a listing published at the same as the most recent Blue Book . . . Obviously it's a guide only, and in no way reflects current market conditions. If I could get full BlueBook pricing, I would sell all of my Rambows right now.

Real Estate!

Try McDermotts!
I have owned a 100% Rambo cue. This cue is not 85%. For it's age is is nice, at least what we can see of it.
Many issuses can affect the value of a Rambo. Rambo buyers have interest in things they appreciate about that particular cue.
They are usually very sought after or run of the mill. Yours in about in the middle of the road. The signature is money on the bank.

The most interesting aspect of this entire thread is the OP has yet to respond! Hmmmm...

Misread... this is the problem. You read off the photos and that particular cue was a wartime titlist. You need to be on the following page for a level 3.

Deduct 40% for possible improper refinish if the shaft letters were touched up
