So we all know the quote in The Color of Money regarding Keith McCreedy's character. So who is it now? Who is making the most money out there gambling? Maybe we could start the conversation with who it is in the United States, and then talk about international players.

No one still playing pool. Honestly, the guys who win six figures at pool are not recognized pool players. I watched a guy put up his business for double or nothing. Two guys that might have ran out once in their life.

Had a guy at the poolroom I used to manage that would go around the room every night and pick up the change left under the rail from keeping score.

One night, it was $0.84 and he acted like he had won the lottery. LOL

There's a player like that at some of the tournaments I go to. Whenever the TD orders pizza for all the players he wolfs down a whole large by himself and then proceeds to bogart all the score change

Me too. Always, I totally laughed when I saw it used in the thread, as did you.

I think I saw "Easy Rider" before I smoked pot so the first time I heard "Bogart" used was probably in that movie.

We have a few guys who show up at a local tourney but never end up playing. They are always happy to bogart one of the free tables before matches start though. Gutless...I have even offered to "put them in the tourney" a few times just to see if they would play. Nope, no way no how, not these two......this weekend I am going to see if they go around bogarting the change left over after the tourney is over:D

I was playing a race at a friends house a couple of weeks ago and we were using dimes on the table to keep up with the games, in the middile of me racking his 11 year old son walks over and took the change.... He said that he thought that they were in our way and that we must have been over looking them for the last 3 hours.

Aside from the gamblers who happen to be betting on pool at the moment the guy making the most money is somebody like Old Has Been was in his gambling days. You ease around, you don't talk crap, you bet comparatively small, nothing flashy. I knew an old man that took good money out of a very small low dive bar year around in the early seventies. He did it with starting bets of three or five dollars and without ever dumping or showing any real speed. He was just always there and "chopping wood" as I called grinding. It was a twenty-four hour place and I sometimes thought ol' Joe lived there.

Odds are that there are some people out there making a good upper middle class living gambling at pool right now and we don't have a clue who they are.

Good reply. Not making the mistake that the guy made in the movie casino that got his hand smashed in the back room. If you take a little piece of the pie you can keep on taking. If you take the whole thing, then it aint there no mo'.

I don't know about "international" but I would say some top contenders in the U.S. would be Obviously SVB , Chris Bartrum and Tony Chohan. These guys are all over the place making games. West Coast , East Coast, Up North and Down South. They work hard at traveling the roads and stirring the action up. Chris has had a couple of really large scores in the past two years.

I know one so far under the radar. Nobody has a clue! He never plays good players. He gets all the action he can handle at 5 and 10 a game. He probably makes 800 to 1000 a week. EVERY WEEK!! All the great players are sitting on the rail wanting some big action and he is always in action. He can really lay it down.
