Fred;

So happy to hear that your aunt is okay.

The pictures and videos coming out of the PI are beyond heartbreaking.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Filipino people.

I remember reading somewhere, that they recorded like 195mph winds. Didn't say if gusts or sustained, but holy crap that's scary!

Keeping our friends in the South Pacific in my thoughts this week for sure!

I managed to donate $100 via the Salvation Army.

I wanted to donate through the Philippine Red Cross, but the only money they accept is pesos, and I did not know how to do that.

Anyway, here is a list of a half-dozen or more organizations you can donate to help the Filipino people: HERE :)

I sit here with a full refrigerator and a roof over my head. My dog eats well, better than I do in fact. I had to donate something to this cause to those less fortunate. It is the right thing to do. If everybody did so, it would sure make a difference in thousands of lives.

Sweet blessings are coming to the Filipino people.

Hope all our Filipino friends are fine and will get through this
Actually, someone should arrange a "Pool Aid" charity telethon. Next week is All Japan and many top Filipino, Taiwanese, European and USA players are playing so maybe after tourney is over they can put aside one day to raise funds for Typhoon victiims. Maybe have a Rest of World Vs Philippines the whole day and stream it live and get TV channels to show it and get people to phone in/SMS donations/donate online

We have members of our AZB group that live in the Philippines. DGEM is one of them, maybe he could become a distributor for us, to aid the people over there, rather than using a major relief company that soaks up the cash before it gets to the people.

Millions of Pool Players, from all countries, could help a great deal.

I just checked, the Salvation Army says every cent donated for the Philippines will be used to aid the people of the Philippines.

Hope all is well with my Filipino friends.

Encourage people to donate $ if you have some extra. The money will be needed in Philippines now, more than ever.

Help if you can

Glad to hear your Aunt/s are OK Fred. I can see it but can't imagine the devastation. Many died because of limited medical help, no supplies & sanitation. My heart goes out to our Filipino friends. I donated a 100 earlier through http://www.directrelief.org/. It went direct to those affected by Typhoon Haiyan.
http://www.charitynavigator.org/ is a site dedicated to those wanting to make sure most of their dollars go to relief & not overpaid CEO's & personal. 98% of Direct Relief goes to the people or area needing relief. I don't contribute very often but these people need our help & our dollars.

I was in Manila when it came through. All we got up here was a lot of rain. Most all the typhoons/hurricanes that blow thru the Philippines go across the mid section, the Visayas. It's mostly flat land with no mountains to weaken the force of the storm. They typically have a half dozen (or more) big ones come thru here every year. This one (Yolanda) was the monster of them all, flattening homes like a tornado would.

They expect over 10,000 dead in Leyte alone. Only the sturdiest brick and steel buildings are still standing. Tacloban is a mid sized city of over 200,000 people. Most of them are homeless now and it's a fight for survival with almost no police and armed mobs taking what they want. It's like New Orleans after Katrina. I think they will have to declare martial law there. They need troops and supplies to get there asap!
