Giving John the benefit of the doubt...it takes money to live. $10,000 really won't take you too far in this economy.

It's not about the US open, that's just an example. He said in this thread he makes as much if not more than russ doing what he does, plus im sure he plays in various tournaments he wins money in, not to mention high stakes gambling, selling videos and whatever else... etc. I don't see many other pros needing to offer half of themselves for a tournament entry fee... It just doesn't make much sense.

Nothing makes sense when most of your perceptions are based on fear my friend!

I never have seen so many jealous people in my life. Most of the ones that have negative comments either waited too long to put their money up, don’t have a hundred to spare, or hate pro’s because they can’t play like one. This is the reason there are very few pros left on here. You ruin it for everybody else on here. But that’s your agenda anyhow. Johnnyt

Maybe for John it's about broadening the reach of pool to the masses.... or maybe he just wants to know someone has his back. Maybe the fact that others have faith in him and are willing to support him, gives him the confidence to go out under the lights and shine. It's nice to know you have a corner pulling/rooting for you. I get the excitement of being a part of it, like owning part of a horse racing in the Derby. I probably won't even get to see him play, but I'll be in his corner none the less.

Actually Johhny, I am sure that is as far from the truth as can be...I think you'll find most people didn't see the thread until it was too late...That all happened pretty darn fast. :)

Well my miss informed friend, here is your guarentee. If John changes his mind and refunds everybody's money and still plays, I will contribute a $6,600 Bludworth Custom Cue with 228 inlays of Ivory, Ebony, Malichite and Snakewood to the charity of your choice. I will also include a brand new Whitten 1x2 case with Blud's name on it! We will sell the cue here on Az for the best offor. If you would like to see the cue, search "Bluds Worth" here on the forum. I know that John just got a fat IPT check and does not need a stake. I do know that he is an honorable guy and will do exactly what he says he will do. I know, I know, I am crazy too.

I hope you're not getting all defensive over my post. I am simply saying I don't understand after how much money john said he makes, why he would need $1000 for an entry fee or want to give up half of his winnings to someone when he apparently has plenty of money. There's no jealousy or negativity in anything I'm saying. It's a simple and legit question. Maybe he does play better when he doesn't fear losing his own money. I don't know, I just find it interesting.

Can we please STOP speculating John's reasoning on everything or questioning his actions. If it was any of YOUR businesses, I am sure he would tell you. I mean shut up already. Do you nits have to spread your "Cancer ridden crap" every chance you get? Save us all and go play in another thread if you want, but leave this one to the upcoming event and true excitement of watching our horse run. Man, people can be like a pack of wolves...someone says the word "embarrassed" about something and out come all the pitchforks.

We all screw up on message boards. We make a post that later we think, maybe I should not have said that. We (hopefully) apologize and move on. If not, you just keep digging a hole that many people on here won't soon forget.

I love free speech. It is kind of a love/hate relationship. I love it when it goes MY way, but when it doesn't, that pi$$es me off! ;) OK, so I am obviously kidding...I love it all the time, but it sounds funnier the other way. :D

Calm down son. John plays good when he's freerolling. That's good for him and anyone who's in with him.

Every player has his quirks, and knowing yourself and what works for you is a good thing.

OK, a lot of digging! John explained himself a long time ago. The first time he did this it was to spread the risk. Realistically no single player is really the favorite against the field to win a big tournament. However, he and Purdman both had a great time and John won the US open so both cashed big.

Getting that feeling back probably has more to do with this offer than it being a "must have the cash to play" deal. John is far more realistic than most competitors and weighs the odds better. Odds are decent that he will make $2000 but no sure thing. He is really just betting his winnings won't fall in a window between one thousand and two thousand, a reasonable bet.

That answers my question. Thanks. That being said, good luck to john and everyone who pitched in to stake him. It should be an exciting ride.

I will take that into consideration. I would love to see you get rid of that Cuetech and get a real cue.:D Or have you kicked it up a notch and got a Lucassi?:p

Maybe you would like my Richard Black or Kikel or my Huebler Custom or maybe my Tim Scruggs, or maybe my one of my Titlist conversions by Mike Web, Andt Gilbert or Jim Buss. My Edwin Reyes pair looks pretty fine too. Here, pick one out.
Purdman:rolleyes:

Oh, if you don't see aything you like, let me know. There are more. I usually on'y show my private stash!!;)
