hi

WOW! way to go guys! I just got back from working and was talking to the wife today about helping John get up here for the Expo. Put me on the list as alternate donator, and I'm only minutes from the Expo, so if you all need info about the area, pool rooms, where to eat, or whatever....just ask. I'll be there every day with the little Lady! :)

Gerry

p.s. hey John, if you need some extra "spending" money while up here, lets you and me sit down when you get a minute and talk 14.1 Theory. seriously, I don't want to screw a cue together to bang balls, just a note book, and some ideas about the game.

let me know.

ALL you guys on here are unbelievable.to help out a fellow player is quite amazing.way to go people and i hope john doesnt let you down.good luck to john and THE 10.

Glad to see John get this support. I have said on many other topics that John is one of the best players to represent our sport. Always polite, always professional, never wearing hockey gear to a match smashing cuesticks. It shocks me that he doesnt have a national level sponsor. He SHOULD be the role model for most the players on the tour. Best of luck on your trip John.

This was a great idea...

Gerry... fyi, John posted that he's looking for a roommate while at the tournament... meaning he's trying to save some traveling expenses if possible. If you have a spare bedroom during the tournament, perhaps those 14.1 pointers would be "free".... just a thought.

regards, cd.

I just started following this thread. I'm in for $100 if need be.

Back off Pinocchio, I've got first dibs on alternate status. I know you recognize a good bet when you see one. Just kidding... :-)

now i sure would hate to see people getting mad at each other over helping me.it was kind of my fault because i did not look at my computer for a while.i did call my friend michael thornton and tell him if he could handle getting the money together that would be awesome.so i just want to say thank you to all you guys, im humbled and flattered that you guys jumped in so fast to help me.ill do my best in valley forge and thats also a great place for me to land a sponsor deal with a cue company or something like that.it is a little embarrassing asking for money to go to a tourney but hopefully i land a deal up there and that way i can be out there representing the usa instead of being on here asking for money.thanks again everybody john schmidt
No reason to be embarrassed John. The billards/pool industry should be embarrassed, not you.
I wish I had been less busy in work today, so I could have got in on this. I'll just waste the $100.00 down there some other way, it wouldn't have been wasted helping out a class act like you.
Good luck in the tournament.

John has now become the AZ "house pro" ? Cool!!!
Thats perfect!!

I'm a member of a few forums that are "Must Read" for me if/when I get online. One of those feels like family.Really it does.If I had a real need it would be filled by others if asked....and I would and have done the same.
This site just lept to 2nd as far as cool.

Props to all who kick it out and its a great solution to a $1000 dollar problem imo.

Really cool stuff guys and gals.I'm new around these parts of the web,but i'm glad to know ya.

Done deal, sir!!

Just sent the money, mthornto....so all is well here.

Again, John....best of luck in the tourney. I'm happy to be a part of it....and happy to see so many folks out there of the same mindset........give the gentleman a chance to SHINE!!!

Hope to catch one of your games while I'm there.

Why not make JS the "AZ Billiards House Pro" and sponsor him in future events with Mike Howerton's approval?

For future major tourneys, expand the GANG OF TEN to a limited partnership among the posters here. Maybe call it THE CORPORATION.

This would provide a great player with some security through pretigious sponsorship by the number one billiard website in the world and give us posters something to sweat at major events without much of an individual investment.

Just a thought, but what do you all think?

The "Group Of 10" Is Available

The "Gang Of 10" was a secret group of RSBers (with a secret handshake, password and Member list). Members of the GO10 didn't even know who all the other members were.

John, I wish you the best of luck in the tourney...and hope you sign with a sponsor that will treat you right.

I'll have $100 for John if needed. Wish I'd seen this sooner. John is a class act. I admire a man that has the guts to reach out for help when needed. That's true humility.... a quality seldom seen in the top ranks of any endeavor. This is a movement... that's what it is... a movement!!!! :D

Feel free to pm me if someone can't follow through.

The Producers

After reading all these posts, methinks John could do better by taking a "cue" from Mel Brooks. He just needs to raise the $1000 five or six times and won't even have to play to make more money than the tourney winner!

OK, just a joke! :p

On a more serious note, somebody here mentioned that he hoped JS didn't disappoint the investors. I'm not sure what was meant by that. If he goes 2 and out I don't think anybody will mind. It sounded like kind of an unnecessary insult to me, but then I'm new here and don't know the personalities yet.

I think JS is better known around these parts than Max Bialystock. :D

I wish I had the money to help out. What I will say is how impressive it is to see so many classy AZ'ers perform a truly classy gesture to help out such a top class guy. I know, the word "class" keeps coming up. Perhaps you should be "The Class Of Ten" or even "Schmidt's Class." That one works well from all angles I think.

Well done guys. Really well done. Good luck, John. I'll be cheering you on from my keyboard!:)
