Highest pool-playing skill level Pool Instructor that you know.

This thread has proven itself very interesting and informative. I was interested in hearing the opinions of others about who they believe was a top playing pool instuctor and not a debate.

It is truly sad that APA7 has decided to pollute this thread. APA7's attempt to discredit one of the honored instructors on AZ Billiards (and a valuable contirbutor to boot) is despicable, unwarranted and unappreciated.

Joey,

I don't have a horse in this race, but how is that "discrediting" to question the credentials of an instructor?

Now, before everyone jumps on me, I have no beef with Blackjack. I've known him for years, thru the various forums, but I have to say...

I've never heard of him nor seen him play either. I've been around too. I'm also from NJ and used to hit the same pool rooms being that BJ and I are close in age. I've pm'd BJ, years ago, on CCB , to ask him if we've ever met and he responded with "did I beat you out of money, lol?".

Either way, the point I was making is that I feel there is a big difference between asking legitimate questions and "discrediting".

Eric,
I don't think APA 7 was asking a legitimate question. He was discrediting one of the instructors that many people feel plays well and was making his opinion known about something that wan't asked for in the thread.

This thread was about who YOU think is one of the best playing pool instructors out there, not who isn't.

If Dave gets to set up a break shot and start from there you have a bet Brian. I will back Dave for your limit of $1500 and the money has to be frozen. Dave has 8 hours to run 75 balls without missing. When he misses then he starts over.

Now it's up to Dave - I will be happy to share this action with anyone who wants a piece of it. I think it's stone cold stealing and I love free money.

Hell Grady used to tell people he'd run a hundred before the night was out or the exhibition was free. I didn't hear of him giving up too many free exhibitions.

I will bet $1000. This has 2 be done on a live stream. Sapolis has to write the ball run on a paper and show the camera after each rack, 75 ball run in 8 hours. Bet  :embarrassed2:

Brian

Ahhhhh another thread intruded on by trash talk and emotional egos. APA7 has every right to his opinion as do all of us who disagree with him. His statements aren't slanderous, he's just tryin' to stir up the stink tank for his entertainment and I'm sure since "Brian" hasn't given anyone his full name or stepped out from behind the alias of "APA7" that he might just in fact be a very high calibre player himself who is baiting for some good action.

So Brian, would you mind enlightening the AZ forums with what your full name is and the location you play out of? I'm sure all these horses are just chompin' at the bit to find out. :) Enquiring minds would love to know. If your not willing to give up the info it's not a big deal. Enjoy your hackin' on David Sapolis. I'm pretty sure he's been through worse than your insults in his lifetime. In my opinion, he plays a pretty darned fine game of 14.1 and he's earned much respect for showing his play to all eyes wanting to watch via YouTube.

Sounds like something the action report boys might be interested in covering. The AZB challenge.

I am pretty sure that if it's on live stream then we will all be counting the balls. In any event it's up to David now if he wants to do this. You said you would bet $1500 and I'd like to bet the whole $1500 but I understand if you want to bet less.

Make the arrangements and let's agree on where to send the money.

John

Edited to add that I just found out that David has Parkinson's disease. I would like to double the bet to $3000 just so I can donate this asshole's money to a worthwhile charity that is involved in fighting this disease.

hey....rather than fight on this thread....what say we get on topic.
Yeah...like that'll happen.

What makes a good instructor anyway? I'm looking for a local teacher(Allentown PA area) and am wondering, does a person who is a BCA certified instructor automatically have credentials?

There is a local guy by the name of Dale Sukenik(BCA Certified) that gives instructions but I've never talked to anyone who's taken lessons.

Actually...I've talked to almost no one who admits taking lessons. Most seem to be afraid to admit they didn't learn everything they know on their own.

Any thoughts?

Hey Koop!!! Great avatar!!

I think he should top the list and anyone that has the opportuntiy should jump on it. Unfortunatley I haven't had the opportunity myself but based on his play, the way he talks about the game and some of his video instruction Buddy Hall is the man. Possibly the greatest American player ever and I believe he has the abilty to pass on his knowledge effectively.

leehayes, doesn't Karen Corr live in your area? She gives lessons. Also, Scott Lee is in your area a couple times a year. You can contact him on this forum. He might be available just before or after Valley Forge. I can only say good things about him. Loves what he does. Very student friendly. He can demonstrate what he teaches.
