Put a price on it. Its not a szamboti.
Thanks for clarifying that. I still don't know what current market average is on the Horn sneakies. The cue belongs to a friend of mine, is not yet for sale, and I am trying to help him put a number on it.

So thanks for your genius input on my request for a knowledgeable answer.

Btw - I will refer everyone to you Daniel, that might be looking for authentication on a Szamboti.

^^^ LOL!

Obviously, hard to say. One way to value it would be by looking at his other cues, starting with the most similar. Not a lot of these around, so on to plain janes from Verl. Not a lot of those either. Onward. TS sneakies between $450 - $600. McDermott, Joss, Huebler, etc, etc, anywhere from $100 to $300. I put Verl above the commoners, but certainly below a Scruggs (who seems to have an abundance of sneakies out there).

Just a guesstimate, $250 - $400.

????????????

Is that shaft the original that came with the cue? That shaft seems to be tapered further back than a Moochie. Value 150-250 if straight imho.....

with 1 shaft id say 250-275 is what you could get..

I agree. From my understanding, Verl Horn was a cue assembler and not really a cue maker. The reason why his cues are going so high is because he passed away. He had some beautiful cues with alot of ivory, but this is the first sneaky I've ever seen. Sorry if this seemed negative, good luck on a future sale.

Verl Horn was a cue maker for sure He taught Steve Kornelle and many others started in the early 60's! LikeTim Scruggs his points were even from the very first I have a 8 point hi lo from early 60's w/venners Yours is a newer one late 80's early 90's you can tell by the name on the butt He probally used a blank like tim the points are uneven if he made it the points would be even Tims sneakys are also blanks this is why they are cheaper I think it would be the same price as a T/S Ron

most of them sneakies running around were made by bob frye anyways. when i talked to tim about a sneaky a year ago he refered me to bob and said bob made them before and tim wont make sneakys.

200-250 IMO

It seems like many of the NEW cuemakers on here get $350-$500 for a sneaky pete, using a blank and maybe with a ring or two. Verl's work is well known and he is a recognized "old time" cuemaker. He should at least be in this range.

Thanks to everyone who has taken time to share their knowledge.

The information should be useful to the gentleman that owns the cue.

but it's not a dumb ol' sneaky pete, it's a wrapless, no veneer, wood joint, full splice Hoppe!!! It must be worth $750?!?!?!

Verl was a maker, from the ivory ferrules to the blanks. I hear, He taught the Prathers most of what they know.

I met Verl and his brother in 1993. He was making killer, 4 point, steel joint cues, with ivory ferrule for about $600, and delivering them within 3-4 months.

Something loaded with ivory from stem to stern was only about $1500, and I mean real CUT ivory points, ferrule, joint, buttcap, and inlays.

I got talked out of buying when I had the money, :speechless: and instead bought some ivory parts.

I still have an unused 6 point, 3 high, 3 low, ivory into birdseye blank he made for me . I wonder what that's worth.....

$250ish for the sneaky. Horn has never been as appreciated of a cuemaker as he probably should have been, and that's a shame. He built some super cues over the years...and many of the regional cuemakers in/around OK learned the craft from him. Boy, that man was not afraid to use some ivory in a cue, that's for sure !!

a guy at my local pool hall had one of his sneakies similar to this but im unsure of the age. he sanded the name off to make it a real sneaky a few years ago and said he turned down an offer of 400

horn $$$

100.00 to 200.00 tops

To put this into perspective, a new Action, Lucasi, Players, Eliminator, Fury or Cuetec sneaky pete is anywhee from $39.99 to maybe $150 and the Meucci and McDermotts are a good amount more than that. The Horn sneaky pete imo is better than most if not all of them. Given that, the cue has to be worth $200 I would think. I guess it all depends on how the market is at the time, which goes for all cues.
