Now how sweet would this be??? An event of this magnitude would blow what we have going (Mosconi) out of the water..... Not sure how 5 team format could be done but the whole world would tune into an event like this.... It would have to be held in Manila, PI.... I would prob rank the teams just the way I typed them.... Asia having slight edge over Europe.... Had to add in Canada so we'd have a slight edge over somebody....

Heck, we can add in a PI B team that can beat us to make it 6 teams.....::p

because then it wouldnt be the mosconi cup.

Not to mention the fact that you'd have Canada competing as an individual team against full continents. Canada has what? 30 million people?

Speaking of which, the only thing wrong with Mosconi Cup is that USA is one country, while Europe is a full continent. It should be America Vs Europe, that way Alex could be on team America, which would make for a pretty even match up.

Either way it's a fantastic event. We're so quick to criticize on the forums, but at the end of the day, this is definitely one of the best (if not *the* best) event there is.

Lol, I'm imagining the team spirt of 'Team Asia'. Not going to happen.

Get a Chinese, a Japanese and a Phillipino all together on a team and try to build unity. They have about as much in common as Mick Jagger, Queen Elizabeth's corgi and my uncle frank.

Unfortunately there isn't an 'Asian' identity or a feeling of unity between those countries as has emerged in the euro community of late. You're going to be hard pressed to get the same kind of emotional commitment that you see coming from the Mosconi as it is.

Now, if you added a straight Philippines team then for sure you would and they'd be right in the mix talent wise and team spirit wise. However this would just highlight how freakishly talented that one country is that they can with far fewer resources at hand produce a team to take on the USA and Europe's best.

There are already world team events exactly like this that have taken place.

What the Mosconi Cup should be is North America, vs Europe, vs Asia and possibly a 4th team that includes the Middle East and India because they are REALLY starting to support pool and have a boatload of money to do so.

Do a round robin format with two matches going simultaneously blocked by a partition ala-world snooker championships where 3 days of round robin play race to 7 determines the top 2 teams that play for 1st and 2nd in a race to 11 format over the following 2 days.

That would get the world watching the Mosconi Cup, tons of fans from the Philipines, China, the Middle East, it would make the event alot bigger then it is even today.

I'm glad you didn't say Keith Richards. He would probably get stoned and try to hump the corgi and your uncle Frank.

lol at Blue Hog ridr reply

TV wouldn,t have coverage time for any other Mosconi Cup format but they might be interested in Keith,Queen's Corgi and Uncle Frank locked up in a room for a while.:D

Listen dogsplayingpool don't dog matchroom if it wasn't for them team USA wouldn't get a gauranteed annual payday win or lose.

I agree with Nathan on this one.. I'd love to see the other folks from NA have a chance to play with USA players.. Would add a whole new dynamic for sure!

Canada has some talented players for sure but would any of them have qualified for the last few teams based on their performances in points events? I don't know the answer, I'm just asking. I know Jason has played pretty well the last year.

I would imagine that this year anyway, even if you included Canadian players, it would have been the same 5 guys in the 1-5 slots.
