OK, so last night I show up for 9-ball league night at the local pool room. The owner tells me the local paper is looking for a local pool player to feature in a story and an on-line video. For some reason, I was recommended.

I was hungover, I forgot my cue, etc. But I'll be in Asia next week so I said "let's do this now."

He recorded the 12 games I played. There were no set-up shots and no do-overs. All you see is me playing league matches. I had 2 B&R's, 2 short racks, and won 9-3.

I wish he would have at least got a b&r from beginning to end, but its edited down. And the best shot of the night was edited out. He interviewed me before & after the match and added it as a voice over.

PS: the guy in the blue polo playing or sitting next to me in a few shots is AZ'er "Roger Illinois."

nice little video. I stop by BoM anytime I'm passing thru or have to go to Galesburger for any reason. :grin: Tell Mark I said "HI". Hope to see ya up there some time!!! :cool:
 
Did you say Galesburg Rusty...I went to that Billiards on Maine room one night, won the tourney and beat the few guys I matched up with, then ended up at a diner with the waitress that served me dinner. I love me some Galesburg!

I was probably one of the guys you matched up with.

Road players usually end up making expenses by matching up with me.
 
Really a well done story, and you got broadcast talent dude! I think broadcasting might be your next best option for a fall back job, 'cause making a living with that studder stroke is gonna be tough! ;) ;) ;) Seriously though, you move whitey pretty damn good and I bet you'd be a tough foe.

Thanks for sharing Cuaba, you're one of the good guys that posts all over, and your posts in NPR are sane and sensible, lol.

Don't know...someone bought me Chez Willy and paid for my diner later that night...it's a nice little town...Valley's and Gold Crown's...hot ass bartenders too. I thought I had half a chance with the dark haired one that's just too cute...forget her name though. I drank and played with some young girl Courtney maybe was her name...I forget it was over the summer. I'll have to hit you up next time I'm around there. I travel for work and like to stop in that area or Bloomington when possible.

Funny you mention Chez Willy's. I had two customers in town from Sweden for an overnight last night. I sent them to Chez Willy's for dinner and told em I couldn't join em cuz I had to play pool.

If I had chosen dinner, the paper probably would have picked someone else for the story.

Yeah, I think I told you to hit Billiards on Main when you said you were headed that way....do I get a commission? The fact that you awed a waitress with your playing ability and a tourney win I find a bit hard to believe, and I can't see you going to a nice dinner with the shoes I've seen you wear :eek: lol.

All kidding aside, BoM is a great room, and Mark (the owner) is top notch. Like I said, a must stop for me if I'm remotely close to Galesburg. BTW, that Jacoby that I have a link to pics for in my sig.....came from Mark at BoM. :grin: He ripped me off, of course, but I still like it. :rolleyes: :wink:
 
Now that is probably a story that just about every continuing pool player can relate to. Very well told, nice touch. I think you have a fairly strong game as well. It will be a good match when you come to Magoo's.
