How does this bumper make your cue more stable? has anyone tried it before?

well i have a omega DPK, and i wonder if the screw one will work. i really want to make sure the butt flare will be okay thats all, not really worried about the vibration

I've used the limb saver on my break cue before. I'm not sure if it made it more stable, but I did notice a significant decrease in vibration. Sometimes when I broke hard, I could feel the impact run through the cue and up my wrist. Nothing with the limb saver. The only thing I didn't like was with Predator butts, you needed the expanding collet version, which did not like to stay in and I had difficulty readjusting it. Ended up just taking it off.

The new LimbSaver™ X-1 is the greatest innovation in cue stick technology since the leather tip. Whether you are an enthusiast or a pro, the LimbSaver™ X-1 is a must-have!

Cue Stick Vibration can cause the tip to wander, greatly decreasing accuracy. The LimbSaver™ X-1 Cue Stick Stabilizer keeps the tip on the ball longer!

That is some seriously shameless gimmick marketing, lol. It keeps the tip on the ball longer? The greatest invention since the leather tip!? Seriously?

To my understanding, the limb saver helps absorb the vibration or "shock" of the hit. There are a lot of cues in trhe market which have a very stiff hit. I happen to have a little tennis elbow which is worsened by a stiff hit. On me break cue I made a gasket material washer to put on the joint pin. It takes away all of the vibration! Give it a try- you never know...

the old hype button

Almost anything you add to a stick dampens vibration. The rubber pad at the back of the butt does indeed have an effect on overall vibration and harmonics. It also increases dwell time of the tip on the cue ball. Any added weight will do that.

Now for the real question: What do we gain? We gain rear weight on the cue, a dubious advantage. We gain some dwell time of the tip on the cue ball. This could be a real benefit if it was enough to be significant, my bet is that it isn't. We dampen vibrations.(harmonics) I have no idea of the speed at which the harmonics pass back and forth through a cue stick but this may or may not matter. The primary harmonics pass back and forth through a rifle barrel several times before the bullet leaves the barrel making tuning the harmonics tremendously effective to increase accuracy. I have seen rifle accuracy increase tenfold by tuning harmonics. If, and this is a very large IF in my mind, the limbsaver dampens harmonics while the tip is still in contact with the cue ball this could be of benefit not by increasing accuracy but more efficient transfer of forces between the stick and cue ball.

The possible improvements are better transfer of forces between the stick and cue ball, a change of balance point, and a change in the feel of the hit that some players may prefer.

The possible losses are moving the balance point back on a cue that is well balanced now and changing to a less desirable feel. Also I don't see how much it weighs and adding only a few ounces of weight to a cue usually changes how it plays a huge amount even without changing the balance. Then there is the final negative: Unless you play better than Efren, everyone in the place including me, is gonna laugh at that thing more than the pink glove some guy is wearing!

I think that the limbsaver is hokum on a pool cue. On the other hand, a door knob on the end of a rimfire rifle barrel can work miracles. Some of us will have to pay to find out. You won't find me anywhere near the front of that line!

butt saver

I would like something like it just to help keep my cues farther off the floor if someone sets them down. My floor is rough concrete and a little more rubber on the butt would be good. I don't care about vibration or any of the other stuff. Is there something that would serve for that? (it isn't worth thirty dollars to me either)

I bought mine to keep from dinging my cue on tile floor. Never really felt like the vibration changed.

if anybody wants one, i have the expanding collet model and screw in model that i don't use anymore that i will sell. PM me....

Do they have something like a little propeller I can attach to the back end, so that I can get better distance when I hurl it? Or maybe some dart-style stabilizer fins? What about something that will let me get better spin when I throw the cue helicopter-style?

I found the statement "Cue Stick Vibration can cause the tip to wander" just a bit, ummm, farfetched. It sounds like the tip is going to meander off down toward the snack bar.
