The commentator(s) tonight said 26 oz., but that's wrong. Mike Gulyassy posted that it's 63" and 23 oz. [The maximum allowable weight for a cue under the WPA equipment specs is 25 oz.]

the question "How good is Earl" must be kind of sarcasm or ironic. I really can t believe that this is a seriously meant question.
Just watching him today shows that he is still can be a nightmare for everyone to play.
I don t think noone of the *newer pros* would think *Oh good to play against Earl*.....

Just looked at the brackets and now it says Earl is playing Dennis Hatch. What gives?

I'll tell ya what, I'm 52 yrs. and a few yrs older than Earl, I never played like Earl from day to day , but I play pretty good, and I play better now than ever, so Earl can get there, don't think he can't, Luther Lassiter won the World 14.1 when he was 67yrs., so Earl Strickland has alot of excellent pool playing yet to do!.......and will!!!!!.......:thumbup:

Earl is a beast...and I enjoy watching him, when he plays good or bad...good behavior or bad...some of ths stuff he says is down-right epic.

Earl's game is just about back to where it was in his top years, but he won't win many 10-ball tournaments w/o a better break. He has the power for a good 10-ball break, but needs to practice it. He might need to ask someone to help him. I love seeing Earl playing well and the demons seen to have gone away. Johnnyt

It seems that Earl is on some type of renewal for sure.

It's hard to not pull for Earl. He was a SUPER CHAMPION. Now he's older. He's gone through some serious health issues. He lost an important pool sponsor. He's got his baggage. We all do. Earl continues to fight the good fight and seems to be in better control of himself. Earl is constantly modifying his equipment and is the ultimate RETROFIT MAN.

If his match with Mika yesterday is any indication, what you say seems right. Earl was pocketing balls and getting out much better than Mika, but Mika was hitting the balls more solidly on the break than Earl and was more successful at pocketing balls on the break. That, and the fact that Earl didn't get out in the last rack when he could have won the match, made the difference. Sucks to shoot a .946 and lost to a .897.
 
I just noticed that they changed the brackets for today. Last night the bracket said Earl would play Johnny if Johnny beat Charlie Williams, but now Earl has been moved and apparently will face Dennis Hatch. Very disappointing as I was really looking forward to seeing Earl and Johnny play.

If a player has been moved I'd like to know why? I would hope it's not because Earl and Johnny have that action match coming up. I didn't follow the brackets so I have no idea if someone was moved, but a few members on here said they were. Johnnyt
 
Earl is great but no pro is going to run through a field in a major tournament these days without some close matches. There is so much talent now that you have to play your best and even then you might not win.

How does this happen,with changing the brackets,i have never heard of this before.is it because of bys,or is it that someone has just made a misstake
