How many are using FB groups to sell now instead of AZ for sale subforum?

Lol. Shoulda waited a few minutes...

'Course, this forum has not gone to shit because it's being spammed to death by sellers. No, definitely not.

Great call Ron. The guy spams the main forum daily, yet the Mods
are too busy policing the Aiming forum.
Haven't seen one For Sale thread from this guy, yet he can spam
the Main Forum selling his wares!!
Things like this have turned me away from AZ!!

You guys are a trip.

If I am to believe what I have read in the past 24 hours, not being able to have people ask questions in the wanted/for sale area and not being able to post ads in the main forum is why this site is crashing and burning.

Yet, that same user having to post in the main forum is why this site is crashing and burning.

Can you guys make up your mind as to why you think the site is crashing and burning, and then let me know?

Think that might have anything to do with the fact that all of your friends on FB see a note at the top of their page reminding them that it is your birthday?

I been on F/book 3-4 monthe , and got about a hundred Birthday wishes . Seems like some nice people over there .

I use facebook, and here. I don't like the new format here, but at the same time I don't love facebooks format either. I found the old for sale style better, but I can see where high volume sellers like the new way better.

AZ - FB - And ......

People should use whatever forum(s) they like. There is nothing productive about bashing any of them.

I use Facebook as well as AZ. If people enjoy the commentary in For Sale posts, then Facebook is the place. Personally, I would rather not have to scroll through ads that are continually bumped. In fact there is one seller on FB who bumps his ads once or twice a day. More power to him.

The better Facebook pages are the ones with a focus and that don't duplicate another page. I fail to see the purpose of why there are +40 Facebook pages whose main purpose is the sale of billiards related items.

What is almost never mentioned is that there is another billiards world. It exists outside of both AZ AND Facebook. It is populated by the many many cuemakers, players, and collectors who do not participate, post, or seldom if ever post online. It's known as the real world.

Mike it's your site... You may of course do as you wish but discussion in the main ABOUT a products differences is now considered sales and you cannot discuss ANYTHING in the for sale section..

When you are constantly developing and refining ideas and products you tend to want to discuss it...

I would like more subforums where discussion can be allowed... More subdivisions to keep like items together... really isn't a huge request and I think it will have huge merit across the board....

With the current state of the for sale the only reason to come here is for the discussion. Whats hurting this site in that respect are the Thaigers and and others that are allowed to put up a new name and remain anon as they troll along under the guise of free speech.... You never guaranteed free speech on a privately owned forum but in efforts to protect it here many have voted themselves off the island...

It is not worth it anymore when anytime I post I know there are several who will jump in both feet talking straight out of thier keisters and not having to back it up... The constant knocking, arguing, trolling et all is the issue here....

You have heard it from industry people before and you will continue to hear it.... The pros avoid this site and both refer to AZ as a bunch of knockers... Aside from Royce and Shane at OB I see noone from the industry that is a major company.... AZ should be the voice of pool not the stomping ground of a few nits who constantly effect the whole community.... Self moderating on FB makes them go away while here you must depend on Wilson for moderation... I know it's a thankless job but there might be more thanks if he were to start taking into account patterns and bodies of work and tossing the trash on the heap where they belong.....

Doesn't anyone use EBAY!.... seems like the most logical alternate choice

my first choice would probably be here on AZB, smaller group, knowlegable crowd, and being a newbie i must say it's been a very welcoming group

my second choice would be ebay, huge market, buyer & Seller protection... things seem to sell for more than they should

my last choice would be FB.... just not into the whole social media thing... no offense to those who are

My first choice

would be here. Although I asked in the main forum how to post a for sale add & its still not answered. Its starting to make sense? Few know how for sale works & supposedly I can not ask a question there! So it looks like Ebay or possibly facebook if I join. The problem is I don't have a clue how it works either or how to look or search. Maybe I should peddle my goods at the local pool room? I don't know but looks I got lost in the shuffle some time ago.

Mike, I switched to posting all my work and all the new things I'm doing to pool tables on my Facebook page, BECAUSE of the feed back I get from members here on AZB. Things like.....I'm just patting myself on my back....who cares what you're doing....it's not rocket science.... I know a lot of guys that work on pool tables..."and they're just as good as you are"....what an ego maniac....and all the rest of the BS that comes out of their mouths. Who needs it?

People always thinking they have a right to get into other people's business seems to be the norm here anymore. I like AZB, always have, supported it 100% to the point that I never offered my services to any other websites....and for what? Yes, I still get a lot of requests for my services because of my affiliation with AZB, but I get just as much from Facebook as well.

IMO there should be no sales in the main forum...period. There are too many on the main just here to push their products for free. Anyone that can't right through these people are who are targeted. Johnnyt

Chris, I have no problem at all with open discussion about products on the main forum and I understand completely why that sort of thing can't happen on the wanted/for sale area anymore. Yes, it would be great if people could ask questions in that area, but the actions of a few sellers who apparently couldn't sell their items without taking advantage of the system have screwed that up.

Until someone can suggest a way to allow folks to reply to messages in that area and not game the system, I think we have to keep it like this.

Trying to discuss the products that you make is a slippery slope though. When does it go from "seeking feedback from buyers" to just "hawking your wares"?

I do know one thing though. If you are going to allow detractors to affect how you do business, then you are going to be in for a lot of changing. No one is ever going to accomplish something meaningful (especially when the internet is concerned) without a fair share of bashing. It took me quite some time to get over the bashing I got from a handful of people who had nothing better to do.

A little "growing up" on my part helped too, but that was just me.

Contrary to popular belief, I don't want to ban anyone from here. I would love it if we could all just discuss the game that we love without all of the crap that seems to come with it. I have no idea what people really think they are accomplishing by badmouthing someone else on the forums. But people are 100 times more interested in proving they know more than anyone else, than they are in actually helping this industry get better.

I read a lot of posting about how Facebook is so much better than here. Yes, we have a fair share of asshats who want nothing other than to tear others down. I don't know why that is. Maybe they are friends of other table mechanics. Maybe they heard from a friend that the job you did for them made their table too tough to play on. Maybe they just spent too long breastfeeding when they were children. I have no idea.

One thing I do know is that if someone posts only to their friends on facebook, they are only going to get kudos.

I see pros post to their friends some of the craziest ideas in the world, and all they get is "Wow, great idea" and "You the man! Make it happen". What kind of response did they think they were going to get? If someone posts something disparaging about their "great" ideas, then they are defriended.

Like I said to Chris, if you are going to allow negativity to close your circle of influence, then it is going to become a circle of just friends. You do sometimes come across pretty harsh, and that sometimes ruffles people feathers. I do try to moderate those threads when the haters get out of line, but I need help from fellow users reporting these things and I need a little more understanding from the users.

Mike, I would never say Facebook is better than AZB in the same breath, but Facebook at least allows me to kick out the trolls in a NY second:thumbup: I owe AZB a lot for letting me build my reputation at a top pool table mechanic, and I know I'm years ahead because of it, I just get sick and tired at how long some things are allowed to continue on at times is all.....you HAVE my support 100% and even though many on here think when ever I post something to do with my work, all I'm doing is advertising for more work....don't know me at all. I post here to educate people, not to find more work.....I have all I can handle and always will because I'm dedicated to the work that I choose to do.

Bottom line is, I'm not really liking the direction AZB has been taking over the last few years, but I feel it's more of a customer based problem rather than a management situation.

I still feel that if AZB were to drop the NPR' forum....the problems with AZB would clear up on their own, as all those posters would go away, most don't give a damn' about pool anyway, which is why they have nothing to contribute, yet want to argue anything and everything in the main forum because it's nothing more than another place they can get into a debate with someone.

I have to agree with RCC on what he has to say .

Mike I still think AZ is the best resource out for players to congregate and ask questions and learn... There just seems to be an ill wind blowing at the moment...

I will try and do something a little different... I will make a single thread for Outsville and will answer questions and ask questions in that thread...

I will stay out of threads about Kamui or Magic chalk or other makers producs because I can see where people don't see me as educating but as high jacking to try and sell our products...

The people that think the Outsville thread is just a sales thread can just not read it... Part of what we do is educate AND get educated from feedback... Maybe this will chill out the restless natives...

Outsville has grown up on AZ over the last 4 years and many members have been along for the journey.... Without the feedback from the members here we would not be as far along as we are... We are still small in the industry but we are growing and I really do not want to abandon where our roots are just because of some bad apples trying to poison the soil....

As far as the sales forum I can imagine it cannot be everything and it had to be handled as the buddy bumps and self bumps were killing the members who didn't manipulate the game in that manner....

Chris

You have no idea how much I like this idea. Originally, the NPR section was set up to give people to go and vent a little steam.

Personally, I stay as far away from that area as I can unless I am looking at a reported post.

Most of the time I feel like Facebook isn't the greastest. But then I don't have enough posts yet here to reply to a thread in the selling/wanted section here even though I've been a member for 10+ years. So that's frustrating as well. Like I mentioned in your last thread, I didn't see you at sbe even though you were there but I would like to know about your products for sure.

Wish there would be a site like Facebook that has sub areas for different interests. Think the reason I don't use Facebook as much is because it's too cluttered with stuff I'm not concerned or interested in when looking for posts I wanna see and care about.
Try Google+, I prefer it over Facebook mostly because of the Communities..

I've sold like $6000 worth of good on fb in the last. 2 months and. $180 on here.

Still, the main difference between Facebook and AZB is that you build your friends list, on AZB it's who ever is on at the time, and most have already seen about everything there is to see. There's a lot more experts on AZB than Facebook, and yet at the same time, a whole lot more people that don't know shit, but would like to believe they do. When you're selling things, the more exposure you have, the more you sell....simple rule of thumb. But, at the same time, Facebook never has had such a large group of people in discussions over certain topics. I look at Facebook as kind of like texting what I have to say, then checking in later to see what the response was when I have time. AZB is more in the now when it comes to responses to a subject. So I think the two media outlets are apples and oranges to compare them together.

Wow

Personally I think most of what has been said is just not identifying the real reason why the WFS section in like watching paint dry...

I believe the real reason the WFS is so dead now is its over the all mighty dollar.

The small time cue flippers as a group were making a impact on the pool or billiard market..........

About 4 years ago at Christmas time a ban on all new products could no longer be bumped or posted ?? this ban lasted about 4 months.
Personally I thought it was over one of the new billiard supply houses had bought a AZB banner and didn't like the fact that members of AZB could post there NEW for free.

At the same time rumors were flying around it was because Joe Barringer had been banned from AZB and had a law suit against AZB..

What is od about all of this is everyone is buying into that the wanted for sale section has been changed because of over bumping.
So they made it where no one can reply to any of the for sale threads.

Well they sure haven't done that with any of the other AZB sections.
Normally you punish the person who is Abusing the rules and not everyone who posts in it.

So the real question is why would the person or persons who own this forum pretty much kill one of there most visited sections ?????

Money is the answer, there is more money in selling advertisement banners ............

The wanted for sale section was slowed down because it was in competition with the big billiard supply companies that bought AZB advertisement banners..
It is a market and they want as much of the sales as possible.....

Well this is my theory,
