How Many Bumps are Too Many

So how many bumps are just too darn many when trying to sell something?

I saw one thread where there are 31 posts and 16 of them (not counting the first post) are the sellers.

I know I have bumped my threads a few times when trying to sell something but just when does it become "enough already"?

depends on where...

I guess it depends on where the bumps are :-)

I think a bump a day or two for the first few days just to keep it at the top...then maybe a bump a few days/week later. Bumps should be used for price changes, etc after the initial offering. Either people want your cue or not...you can usually tell within the first two days of listing whether or not you can sell it.

Bump

A bump for the "BOY TOY" bumps. LOL

I agree, sometimes certain threads do get overbumped. I hope I never become quilty of this practice. I try to keep mine to a reasonable limit.

I KNOW that I'm guilty of it. The main reason is that folks will send me a PM with a legit question that others may have, too....and that wasn't addressed in my original posting. Other times, I just get a little "bump-nuts"...........

hee hee.....I said bump-nuts!!! :) :)

I know I should tone it down a bit on some of my posts....but it's just too much fun to see all the traffic. I blame the obsessive-compulsive side of me for that.

It does seem like some on this forum seem to take advantage of the forum by constantly bumping their threads back to the top. Maybe 2 bumps or at the most 3 times should be enough.

Seller Should Know-

A seller should know if there is interest in the cue or not, one can see how many views their post has received. I have sold a number of cues, some in hours, some in weeks, but if there aren't a lot of responses right away (including PMs), you can be sure that for any number of reasons the interest is just not there for that cue at that price. If someone wants it, eventually they will contact you. I had a Bluegrass for sale with a final price and was contacted over a month after I last advertised by an interested party. I think bumps should be for price reductions once a week or so until you are at the lowest price for which you would sell that cue. Then, I would just suggest going to auction or returning the cue to its storage case.

Bogus bumps

It seems to me that if the only thing a poster can think of to "bump" a post is the word "bump" then it should NOT be bumped.

In the W/FS section especially you need to save some sizzle on your offering for "bumping" purposes. If I only see the word "bump", it seems like no one has any interest and I then lose interest.

If you want to "bump" a thread, post SOMETHING. Make a comment, add a photo, think a little.;)

I agree there needs to be control but I have noticed also that there is alot of post in the wanted forum that has no business being posted there so you list a cue for sale and 12 hours later its on the 3rd page because all of the bs post's have moved your item outa site. Then there's the buddy bumps that say what a great deal and how someone's getting a steal (LOL).Then there's a few dealers posting all there stuff from there website here blowing everyone else off the main pages.Yes,there is alota bumping, but if you cant beat'em,join'em. I dont like the bumps either, but sometimes there's no choice. I dont sell too much on here but the bumps are just another thing thats really not that big of a deal. If you have already viewed a item, then why click on a bump anyway, just pass over it.

I couldn't agree more, Cuedoctor. Sellers should be on the front page for a couple of days to get the exposure needed to sell their stuff.

Did some searching to find that one huh?

If you even bothered to review the thread, only two of the bumps were true bumps. there were two price reductions (one slashed the price) and a few answered questions.

But I guess that doesn't matter to you, you just wanted to find something and couldn't wait to post it could you.

maybe one should think about where to start a new thread,
I did check this whole thread and couldn't find any price nor the weight of these bumps....

are these for sale, or do you want some......

I saw that in the mainforum "custombumpos84" did offer some nice ones last week

I like Bumps

I like my bumps in sets of 2. Especially in the D variety............
Sorry lost my train of thought. I have got old episodes of Baywatch running through my mind. What was the question again?

EASY ,have a sense of humor,we all bump. Those smilies were a hint. But this needs to be moved to the non pool related forum anyway:D :D :D . This is the wanted/for sale forum and YOU started a thread in the wrong place.

I don't care how many bumps an item gets. It makes absolutely no difference to me at all... has no effect on me.

Twice a day, once a week and so on :~)

One at the beginning and then once at the end of the day, of the 1st day of an item for sale.

Then once a day for everyday of the week, for the first week (7 days in total).

Then once a week for the next four weeks of a month (mine will be every Wednesday), but I would never ever start a new thread of the same type.

I am talking of items for sale only.......... and bumps by the seller, can't conrol the other members of AZB ;)

Mine will start this or next week, I have a lot of cues to unload.

Thank you for this great thread, Bugs. :D

I think

when it runs over a week, 10 days max. Either that or they need to lower their price quicker ... LOL :D :D :D
