How much did your playing cue cost?

My first cue was made in Japan. It converted into a cane. Cost- $5. My second cue was made by Herman Rambow. Cost-$39 with 2 shafts.

Here is my latest cue made by Bobby Hunter.

He will make one like it for $8 to 10 k.

My Phillippi is my overall # 1 cue. I use it for all my 8-ball playing in tournaments and leagues. It's also my 2nd lightest cue at 18.75 oz, and I tend to use it for breaking when I play on the bar tables.

My McDermott is my # 2 cue. I use it for all my 9-ball playing. It's my lightest cue at 18.5 oz, and I use it also as my breaker for 9-ball on all tables.

My Coker is my # 3 cue. I use it for all my straight pool and 1-pocket play.

The Schon and Runde are my backups when I am not feeling that I am in synch with the other 3 cues for a period of time.
 
Around $1,000 for a Josey...2 shafts. 4 sharp veneer points on a BEM forearm, looks like ebony butt piece.
I Shoot with the original shaft, recently retipped with a Kamui black medium.

Love it's feel, so not really looking for another playing cue.
 
I have a few cues that are worth more than $2000, didn’t pay for any of them, I either won them or they were gifts.
 
For over 10 yrs I played with a $500 Joss Limited I picked up for about $200 new from a Boston Billiards when they mismarked it and the person at the counter did not have a clue.

My current player is a Ned Morris, probably worth a bit under $1,000 that I got in mostly in a trade for computers and another cue.
 
Well

I just play with a Shurtz SP now, bought it for $140 from a friend. Has terrific balance to it. I used to have an $1,100 Shurtz, and I am getting a player's cue made next February by Bob Owen, who is the cuemaker and partner in Shurtz custom cues. Spending $900 on it with 2 shafts.
 
I paid $250 for my Lucasi brand new and another $50 to have the leather wrap removed and replaced with linen.
I paid $180 for my used McFadden.
The Pechauer was free.
Break cue $100.
 
I paid $450 for my Coco Cog that's worth approx $1,200 to $1,500. No inlays or points but fancy rings with the original orange color. Bought in an auction.

Bought two new shafts from Joe gold that cost me $600. Joe ran out of that color ring. And he was so nice he even made a new set of rings so they would match.

I have never paid more than $500 for a cue in my life. I've bought cues from 1968 up until now, production and custom, and they were excellent players, some better than others.

I think once you reach about the $500 mark, in today's money, that anything costing above and beyond that is for looks only. Playablity of the cues will be the same. That is why I call mine playing cues...I play with all of them, even though a couple of them are worth about $1500 today.
