I don't need any money because I'm such a big sucker - Everyone I play takes my credit cards and then I have a record at years end of how much I've lost.
If they won't take credit cards, they always just let me pay them later because they know they aren't going to lose anyway.

Ever since 1972 when I got taken off for $1800 (my original $700 plus the $1100 I won - LOT of money in those days) in a parking lot by 3 guys carrying an arsenal, I never carry around more than $200-$300; if I need more, the ATM is real close. Not going to the DCC, but if I were I would bring all I had cause the action is so sweet, and it's pretty safe (unless you wander around Louisville - not recommended BTW). It doesn't seem as bad as the old days, but I still hear of players getting rolled after a score, so I guess discretion is the smart move.

Thats kind of like asking how deep is a hole.
This makes me laugh.. I think a few times I have gone to a poolroom and not carried much with me... And then when asked to play, I have secretly gotten a quick loan, or gone to an ATM to disguise the amount I really have.. lol It's a bummer when your opponent knows you only have 3-400, and bets according to your bankroll.

So of you guys need Protection with the Cash you carry.
I see two problems with going to the ATM:
1. There is usually a $500 limit on most bank accounts unless you specifically ask for a higher withdrawal limit. And even if you have a high withdrawal limit, sometimes the machine itself has a limit as to how much it will spit out.
2. It is a bad idea to walk away from your opponent to get the cash from an ATM, especially if the ATM is not inside the poolroom. That can give a sucker enough time to second guess the game, or to have some railbird tell him he can't win.
Cash in pockets is the best way to go. For safety, you should have a small stack in one pocket, and the large stack in the pocket you never reach into until the big game comes along.

Most who carry cash(significant amount) know what's goin on outside the pool room. I'd feel really bad if someone tried to sneak up on me. Bad bad things...
On a lighter note, there used to be a preacher around southern ill, ky, and IN who would carry at least 7 or 8K on him. Plus, he would always have a cashiers check for like 10k that he could cash at the casino.
People were trippin over their tongues to give that guy the 7 out...
PS He loved one hole on a bar box for some damn reason....i'm sure at least one of you out there know who i am talkin about...

I will have at least a thousand. I have been able to pick up some nice sticks and resale them because I had money. Plus its easier to play for 20 a game with a thousand in your pocket instead of a hundred.---Smitty

I'm not much of a gambler either, so I am almost always carrying less than $50 on me. A lot of the time I don't carry any cash at all as I use my debit card quite a lot. As others have said, if I am in the mood to gamble there are always ATM machines close by.
