Ok, I get that. Makes total sense. I personally would not have much interest in a cue I wan't going to play with, so I hear ya. Really makes me want to hit with one though!!

I bought it used from someone but recently I had to deal with the cuemaker (custom cue) I paid 400...but he said it was worth around 1200$ so I had a good deal..

I built my playing cue, the materials cost me around $250.
The cue is a Conversion from a Brunswick 26 1/2 Pre-Titlist, all white on this cue is Ivory. The older Brown looking shaft, was taken from an Old Brunswick cue from the 1920's, and it has 51 GPI. The older shaft is 29 inches and the newer shaft is 30 inches long.

I shoot with a limited edition McDermott it cost $475 and I also own a 314/2 that matches it for another $200.

but the original shaft plays better..

for the money ...you can land a GREAT playing cue between $200 and $600

any less and you are not getting quality.. any more and you are paying for decoration.. or name recognition..

Mine is a 2008 purpleheart nose,3 veneer,6 gaboon ebony points and buttsleeve,leather wrap from sw and also matching joint protectors. The cue would be worth more than 3k. I paid 122 usd for 2 raffle tickets and i won:D I have a new olney coming in a few days time as well. Besides i have owned 95 franklin sw,olney 07,6 pt gina cue,predator p2. As for my break cue it is a varney j/b gaboon ebony into purpleheart i paid lill over 500 shipping kills to asia:D
 
My Cues

First Cue I owned was a Meucci Maximum paid about $140
Next bought a nice Joss cue for $350
Recently bought a 2002 #413 South West paid $ 2000

Still own all 3 cues.

Lucasi LE-27. It helped raise my game from being a banger to an all-around bad player. Removing its weight bolt helped a lot, too.
