I am deleting threads here

There is a simple solution... it's done on many other WFS forums. Set the threads to where they do not bump to the top when someone posts in them. Then the sellers friends can post all they want, buyers can ask as many questions as they want, and the thread doesn't move up. Easy peasy....

OMG.....simple but effective ....there's no benefit from posting other than to expand the total number of replies.
Great idea Jamie and it seems so simple to accomplish versus some of the other notions that have been suggested.

Good idea if there are rules around it as well....since the OP can't bump up their thread...they'll just create a new one in 48 hours...now instead of getting one thread in your search..you'll see multiple of the same threads for the same product.

I think what they have worked and have worked for years. You'll have those that are actively bumping..but you have to figure that they'll be smart enough to stop at one point or another once they realize that there's a problem with their thread..or pricing.

Wonder how we were able to manage when there was no rules before? It was much more fun then. Hourly price drop...till someone buy..etc. Sellers and buyers were much more creative then than now.

It'd sure be polite if we ALL would list "everything for sale" in ONE Thread.
Maybe then my thread wouldn't be on page 8 in less than 12 hrs.

It's very easy to edit a SINGLE Thread (without bumping) when items sell.
Oh, did I use the word Polite ? ... Geez, I must be dreaming.

Great deal

Smooths out all the BS.

+1 perfect!

We can debate all we want about the rules on here but fact of the matter is market hasn't recovered and no one has cash to spend on Pool like they did 3-4 years ago. You can make the wanted/for sales better..but its not going to make you sell anything faster at the end of the day.

Bumping everyday won't help and honestly at the end of the day it properly doesn't even matter. You used to have lurkers/buyers constantly on AZ looking for deals and there are some but lately...its just been dead. Maybe the wanted/for sales section did too good of a job in educating buyers that now it priced itself out of the market.

It doesn't take a genius to see that most of the items for sales are price at higher bracket mostly because that's how AZ mentality have been shaped. All the buying/selling on here is mostly behind the scene anyhow...you price your item at top dollars for trading....and if you get someone serious...they'll make an offer that they think is fair and you'll go from there.

The buyers/sellers on AZ have shrink over the years along with the number of items for sales so that say a lot about the sales effectiveness of the forum. Most sellers here probably find more success selling their items locally and I would say now even on Ebay.

None the less, the magic with AZ FS/Wanted, is that you'll never know what will be posted....same goes with ebay.

Can't wait to head down SBE to see if there are any good deal this year.

Wow, you hit the cue dead center with that comment Cuemaster. As an AZ'er that only comes to the For Sale section occasionally, I am shocked at the price increase on cues just over the last few years. I still remember your ads for those Cuemaster Sneaky Petes, and they seemed to be a good value back then, but now .... everybody with a sneaky pete and a camera wants $400 to $500 for one ... and they're USED! Maybe you guys are selling some cues in this "Down" market, but at these prices, I don't see how. I honestly think most of the sellers here on AZ just price themselves out of the average players market by being greedy used car salesmen. These new rules by the Administrator don't help either. Now the comments have to be nicey nice, and that keeps me from learning what others have experienced with a product and makes me suspicious of all the comments that are allowed on the site. We always knew that dealers helped each other out with the comments (both ways), but now these comments are not properly weighted by non-friends of the seller that can give potential buyers a more enriching view of the item's pros and cons. All things considered, as an occasional buyer, I am more reluctant to engage in conversation and purchase on this site than I was before. Ebay seems to have better prices now, and purchase security there is much better. That is worth the extra seller fees to many of us, especially now.

Wow... I can see where you're coming from with that "0" iTrader and all.

In those same forums that I mentioned, you are only allowed one thread for all your items. Create another thread, and poof... it's gone.

That might be a good idea too. I've noticed one guy that has about 30 active for sale threads with the same items listed several times in different threads. That way he can bump them everyday and use the different threads so it looks like he isn't over bumping the same item.

Over what time period? Surely you can have a thread today then another thread for something different after x days, weeks. ...??? Or is the older thread removed when a new one is started so you only have one active thread? And is a new one deleted (disallowed) if it contains any of the same items in the old one? Excuse my ignorance about other FS forums.

I think when someone knowingly tries to game the rules like that, he should be banned for a significant amount of time. For minor violations, possibly caused just by ignorance, a warning or thread deletion (with an explanatory PM from the deleter) suffices.

Can you delete the moron trying to sell a used
11.75mm Everest tip and ship it halfway around
the globe? He's bumped the thread like 20 times
it's ludicrous.

Thanks for all you do to keep this place cleaned up.

Since you brought this up..........i've never in all my years buying and selling pool related items seen anyone trying to sell a USED TIP! You are also correct that that thread is taking up valuable real estate in the Wanted/For Sale section.

I don't think it's against any rule, but since i'm posting in this thread there's a seller who has "11" for sale threads on the first page at the same time! How inconsiderate is this guy to bump all his threads to the front page at the same time and move 11 sellers off the front page. I'll refrain from mentioning who it is, but he's taking advantage of the forum's free Wanted/For Sale section. The least he could have done is bump a couple of them at a time if he has that many for sale threads going at the same time, but by bumping them all at the same time he's dominating the front page.

If your items have sold before you have more to list then you can close the old thread and start a new. The key is, you are only allowed one for sale thread at a time... you must close one before starting a new one.

Or guys like Cocobolocowboy relisting the exact same two cases for at least the 8th time since the middle of last year. It's been almost a year and you have it listed for almost the same price that you originally listed it for. There is a reason they haven't sold. Your prices are WAY high. Either drop your price to what similar items are actually selling for or quit bumping them and relisting them. You are just clogging up space for your own self gain without being considerate to other members.

What is the point in continuing to relist your goods other than make it look like you just decided to sell something.

He's just another cheapskate trunk monkey looking for a free Ebay,
Obviously too busy bumping his crap to be bothered with paying for a gold membership.

The ones who do it, know exactly what they're doing.

Yep and many are long term members that seem to care very little about the rules. I guess when the consequences are so minimal the behavior will continue.

Make the SOB's display a scarlet letter in their signature for the number or warnings they get.
3rd violation in a year, you're suspended for one month. Get a 4th violation with 6 months of
the suspension, you get suspended for 90 days.....get 5 within 18 mths & it's a yr's suspension.

I think that's may be too generous but it at least is a start for a discussion on taking a harder line.
Jerry is going to do something at some point and perhaps this thread, not this post, will become
food for thought on what actions seem appropriate and subsequently enacted really soon...I hope.
