Let me clear this up so there are no equivocations...
California pool has some major assholes in it. I'm not saying everyone, but most are either self abosrbant assholes who could give a **** about anyone but themselves or people who just like to mind their own business.
Some of those self absorbant assholes have interpreted some of the things I've said as putting me in the same category. I'm about to say another one.
For a couple of years there I was traveling all over the country for work, and I got to play with a lot of good players.
Every where I went I was treated with respect and my game was respected, but I haven't hardly been able to even get a "Hey Kevin what's up" here.
Now don't get me wrong, there are some people here that respect me and my game.
I was in New Orleans a few times and I got to play several people from there. First I was hanging out and playing with Joey Aguzin, a great guy, although II've disagreed with some of the things he's said.
Then I was hanging out at corner pocket and played some with Jamie Farrel. Both times I was in New Orleans, me and Jamie broke even. The last time he got wind of a possible matchup between me and one of the regulars in his room and he jumped up wanting to stake me.
This last statement was on purpose.... I've said some other stuff like this and some of the california people, thinking they know me have jumped on me the same exact way they jumped on Mary.
Now, the same thing I just said about Jamie Farrel, which is 100% true, is what they were accusing Mary of having said in general and the thing they didn't like about her. This started a frenzy of let's bash Mary. I know Mary personally, when other people were complete asses to me, she was nice and we would talk during the tourney's waiting for matches.
Nothing she ever said to me would lead me to believe that what has been done to her was warranted.
The opposite is not true. Some of the same people that jumped on her, also jumped on me without any clue as to what the truth was. As I've said in general, people have to go by their personal experience first and then take other people's word for things.
The problem I have with what has gone down here is that the majority of the people on this site, don't have personal experience to go by with Mary or with me. The people that do and did in both our cases didn't seem to jump up to our defense at all. Is it out of fear? Lack of caring? who knows.
I ended up writing off a bunch of people and losing some people I considered good friends because of that shit and I couldn't stand by and let everyone do the same thing without standing up with my personal knowledge like no one did for me.
I may come off like a pompous ass to some people, in some ways I'll admit that I am. Mary may come off as a pompous ass to some people. That's no reason to try and destroy her in the minds of people that have no personal experience of how she is and that is what pisses me off so much.

Are you saying that pool people in other states are less self absorbant than California pool people? Is this absorbant problem as you see it a California phenomenon? or an AZ one? Are you saying that OMGWTF is more absorbant than Mary?

LMAO, this is hilarious stuff! There are PLENTY of other females who get on this forum and say very similar comments. Funny part is when they say these things they are just being harmless, but how dare another new girl say something to take away attention, lol. Females are territorial and that will never change, but girls - Grow up! I have seen and heard ALOT that these women say, and from the horses mouth, so I know how they work. If you can't make room for new females playing pool, who may be nicer on the eyes or shoot better, then you need to find a new hobby. Majority of comments on this thread hold no water anyway!

Now someone is saying that she's a man? come on. I understand it was likely in Jest, but some of these things are hurtful and people just don't seem to give a shit. I don't care if you think someone brings it on themselves or not, I can't imagine anyone doing something vile enough to bring the kind of shit storms some people have created on this forum.

I can see you've been hurt before and I'm sorry for that. I'm not sure I quite understand your message as you seem to be saying that people suck because they don't like you the way you want them to? I also have trouble understanding the issue of absorbancy as you see it and this:

I stated I'm not going to call out specific people on a forum where the majority aren't going to get a chance to see for themselves through experience which one is more self absorbed, I don't think it's fair to Melinda and Mary. I don't think that it matters in this format.
There's no reason to call out specific people for being self absorbed on a forum that can have long term repercussions on potential careers etc because of personal bias.

Im not taking sides nor do I wish to say what i think about the OMGWTF and Mary match up but, what I will say is that it is rather odd that in this forum and others and in life for that matter that people change their opinions based on what one or two people say. How can ones opinion change so quickly without true evidence?
Its fine to doubt what one says but to start making anyone feel like they dont belong or are a coward when there was no real damage done to anyone here seems harsh. Actually I asked you if you thought OMGWTF was more absorbant than Mary. I now see what you are saying but I must admit that that judging either of them on the "self absorbed" scale seems a bore. Are you saying it is bad to consider oneself?
It seems to me that what you are saying is that you get treated better and with more respect where people don't know you than you get treated where people do know you, does that about sum it up?

It's okay to call me out. I gave my opinion, so what. If you don't like my opinion, you can counter it as you already have. I still think she is full of crap and anybody that will back her after playing for a year (unless she is some kind of prodigy) is a moron. I have no problem cutting people slack when they "embellish" but when people come across as arrogant I have no problem slamming those people as well.
I spent the better part of 30 years traveling and have met people from all parts of our beautiful country. Different regions have different ways of life which leads to people outside of that region to use stereo typing when talking about someone from a certain region. CA has a lot of self absorbed people in it but it also has a lot of nice people. NY has a lot of self absorbed people along with very nice people. My point is that every region has every walk of life. I have some very nice, very good friends in the heart of NYC and I also have some very good, very nice, non-self absorbed friends in CA.
In the scenario that Jaden provides, he fails to realize the bigger picture. Those that were friendly to him in other parts of the country only knew him for a few days. Those that are in CA are around him more and know him better. I know a young lady that has been fired from her last 3 jobs and each firing was more than warranted. To hear her tell the stories, not a single time was her fault, she did nothing wrong. My point is that if you see a pattern with a problem, you might want to look at yourself.
