I don't know much about women's pro pool, and I have just one question about Ms. Corr

Here is it info for you on Karen. She did take time off to go back to the UK and take care of her mom who was sick. Obviously while over in the UK she was not playing in any events so her ranking dropped. Her sponsorships also dropped since she was not playing and so she was having a hard time getting to some of the events needed. Karen is ready to make her way back to the top. See here in case you missed it http://www.str8-shots.com/karen-corr-signed-team-str8-shots/

As someone pointed out Karen does do well against the male players and has no fear against them. Karen is one of the few tha I see putting her self out there to play at events like Turning Stone and she did have a good match against Earl and beat Dennis Hatch among others.

Anyone who knows Karen will tell you that if you put all her talent and ability to one side and just look at Karen the woman you will find her to be one of the nicest most humble people you would want to meet.

High praise from one who knows.

Playing even?

I would be curious how ALL of them would fair at the DCC.

Ken

Sarah got 20th one year in the 9 Ball. It was for at least a year or two-the highest finsih by a female-not sure if it still stands. My experience is the top ladies are well above local shortstops. GYK has drilled quite a few. She once had second at Hardtimes to Oscar in an open event w 96 players.

So in other words, she can flat out play, and she's a great person! Good to know. I just saw her name come up here in there, and I noticed she wasn't on the Queen's Cup team. I thought about how she had knocked Hatch out of TS, and thought it was odd not seeing her there...

Anyway, I'm a fan now!

All the best,

I don't remember this, and I played/watched a lot of the big tournaments at Hard Times. Oscar took 2nd to Alex in a big tournament in recent years at Hard Times. GYK does play a good game, and I'm a fan.

It was one of the Sunday Open Events they use to have monthly. Maybe they still do. Was about 5 yrs ago id say-She rode up from San Diego as did many others-96 Players

I have said it before and I will say it again.

I would really wish the women pros would play all events at the DCC.

I think a few have played including Sarah Rousey, and Jeanette Lee, but they were the exceptions.

I still get pi$$ed off when they announce at the tournaments on TV these are the best pool players in the world....

I know a ton of guys that would "Swim a mile of "poop" " to gamble with them.

CJ - has said that they could or would beat most men players. But then CJ has said alot of things.

Best of rolls,

Ken

Hi Ken, 2011 Karen did play at DCC ,I know she played in the1 pocket and 9 ball,i believe she was in the money in both games, 9 ball for sure !

3 best Women pool players ever, Jean Balukas for sure would be first!

Then i would say real close between Karen and Allison, i would rank these 3 players the best ever!

I saw what she's done in the past in tournaments. I meant if she were to match up with say Kelly today? Is there a mens pro that is about the same speed as her?

A little while back (couple of years maybe) Tony Watson spotted Kelly Fisher the 7 and the breaks playing 9 ball and it was not even close!

At the Time Kelly was playing her best pool, winning most tournaments that she entered,

Kelly Fisher played at a very high level, Kelly played-plays top level pool!

Now playing races to 9-11 in tournament play, a very good women player can beat any man player at any moment, but when it comes to gambling and playing longer sets, the women player will not win! ( just like if you took 2 men and one plays the 7 ball better then the other player, well the player that needs the 7 could win even in the tournament, because of the short race).

One reason you haven't seen Karen much against the women is that there haven't been many women's pro events. I hope that will be remedied soon.

Exactly. Whenever they play, Karen's a top contender...in any tournament.

The women played the men at the Orlando IPT tournament. Gerda Hofstatter beat Earl. That was a priceless moment. I wish I had a recording of his after the match rant.

On the other hand, Bustamante spanked Allison Fischer like a baby. I don't think she won a single game.

Corr's a monster. I don't know for a fact but I'd be shocked if she wasn't WPBA #1 for a significant time. That said, I don't know if she has her best still in her. Not saying she doesn't but I haven't seen the women play in what seems like a long time.

I've been saying for years that pool isn't gender dominated. Women can play and at the top levels. Pushing the races to longer matches to make it a test of stamina or endurance is just a cheap way of being chauvinistic. Based on the current format and length of matches, many of the top female players could compete with the male players. They may or may not set the world on fire and win tournaments, but they would at the very least, compete and do so very well in my opinion. I recently watched a female player named Jessica Barnes, who I believe finished 41st on the most recent women's tour money list, play against Alex Olinger, a very respected player by many. Jessica had him down 4-1 before Alex came back and won a close match. This was a 41st ranked female player. Imagine what the top 10 or even 20 could do.

Just my two cents worth.

Wow, you think it takes stamina to play a race to 21? A person doesn't have to be in shape to play a race to 50. I might be a little chauvinistic, but do you have any women player you would like to bet on playing a man ranked outside the top 20. What you really mean, is they should play a race to 2 to give the women a better chance..

Didn't Karen just beat Hatch out of a Turning Stone this year? She can obviously play, i'm more curious to see how she would fair had the set been to say, 21?

We were on the rail during that match and she was playing damn strong in spite of seeming to be suffering from some intestinal distress (she kept holding her abdomen while grimacing a bit). Hatch didn't take the loss too well, even joking with my wife about signing her poster directly over Karen's face. Lol

Shuff beat her 9-3 to send her to the one-loss side, but the he did almost the same thing to Earl in their first match, beating him 9-4.

She can hang in there and grind out a win with all but the top men of today, and even gave Earl one of his toughest matches at TS, losing 9-6 even with Earl sharking the hell out of her the whole time. Bottom line is she can flat out play, and I enjoy watching her as much or more than I do a lot of the men.

Does anyone know if Karen looks at AZB. Seems like she got a lot of love here! would love to see some more of her matches!!!

I had also heard that Alison Fisher was gambling with guys in Charlotte?

This has been years ago, but I heard it and cant say more than that.

I know Lori Shampo wanted to shoot Jeans ovaries off....(maybe one of my favorite pool stories ever).

Ken

There was a year where she won every wpba event of the year. That was before the better females of today came over, but still very impressive.
