I know nothing about cues - help me understand

I'm trying to help you out. You have to stop insulting the other cuemakers.

For the record, while that blue cue might be ugly, I think it is pretty cool.

I don't expect veneers. The blank won't have any. Per our deal in PM's, if you are successful with this one, your next blank will have some veneers. Beyond that, it is 100% up to you.

Don't forget the shaft. I like a thick shaft. 13mm. Something bigger than that so I can turn it down & use a taper. Someone give me the taper of a Southwest cause I want my cue to hit like a Southwest.

classic....

Sounds good. I definitely want the Full Splice Blank because this is what my original question was about.

If the cue doesn't come out straight, I can always soak it in water and then put some heavy bricks on it to straighten it out.

By the way Tony, no offense, but what is the name of the cues you build? Sorry I have never heard of you. Website please.

That should be easy. A lot of makers think they make cues that hit as well, if not better.

Hell, I think some post here.

If you can consistantly replicate "the" hit I'll come out of retirement and pimp for ya.

BEST of luck, Adam

PS----somehow I'm tied for 3rd in my $ league even though BYRNES and FRANCOUER were the 2nd and 4th OF's I drafted. :o

Anyone else that would like to make a donation to my cue project, please feel welcome.

Willee - I know you have some nice Ivory laying around you could send me. You can keep the blue, purple, and green plastics in your shop.
Watchez, I dont ise Ivory very much in m cues.
I do make some pens with ivory inlays.
Keeping those acrylic cues in my shop has always been a problem.
They sell about as fast as I can make them.
I only make one a year and this year Emerald green will be the color.
It will be made like the cobalt blue one with a maple handle.

If you or anyone else wants it you can pre-pay ($300) and its yours.
First one with the cash gets it.

Sweet Tony - I haven't even finished my cue yet (actually haven't even started except for what is in my mind) but you are already calling me a cuemaker.

Thanks,
Watchez - the maker of the Ragu Cue.

Hey Watchez, your a real piece of work, Why don't you do your part to help with the Global Warming problem and just unplug your computer, nothing productive is coming out of it except a bunch of fertilizer anyways...... If you don't know who they are and have no respect for them, then you sir have no business being in this area of the forum, Just My opinion! I've gotten to know Tony alittle and damn glad to have made his aquaintance. All the above have earned the respect that is given to them, they have class, and have made contributions to make this business a better one.
I'm done wasting my time on your thread, I have to go get alife, so I guess I better get going before the stores close....

Note to Dave - I now have the 33rd most viewed thread in this area of the forum of all time, and climbing.

I read it as you insulted Tony at some point, and the other cuemakers that post here. Not that you are a cuemaker.

Maybe I read it wrong. Good luck with your assembly, hope it turns out well!

If this is the reason for your thread, and the highlight of your nite, I guess you're very shallow and a pretty cheap date to boot. So, who's really going to be the one that builds your "cue" for you??????Seeing that your own admission was that you were clueless, or were you just pulling our leg? as you snuck in your attack on Varney? I'd think some Youtube video of you actually doing the work, and explaining it as you go would help your cause. Shouldn't be to hard in this day and age of cameras. And a follow up video 2 months later to show if any warping, or flaking finish issues would be nice also, along with a third party confirmation that it's as you say it is, and that your the one who made it, remember, it's about honesty and integrety! It's easy to run one's mouth and make statements and promises, and to run down someone elses product, on the internet, but the proof that yours is good enough or better needs confirmation other than just pics and you saying so. Remember, your the one that made the statements about how good you'll do, and how much better you'll make it.
And yes, I do have a life, I bought one at Walmart last nite, at a price busting deal...

Dave38 - why do you continue to personally attack me?

Tony Z. was nice enough to send me the cue components. I have two confirmation emails from the shipping and they should arrive early next week.

If you, Dave38, want to do your part in this experiment and be nice enough to send me a camera and a tripod, I will gladly document anything you would like. I will send them back once the cue is complete. Again, this will be a slow process for me as I am working at my real job out of town for the summer, only home on weekends. Those weekends tend to go by rather fast.

Sorry you think that someone else will do the work for me. Good idea though - I will stop by Jim Buss' shop today & ask him if he has the time between being a rocket scientist and making cues for the people that have ordered them to help along with my Ragu cue, just so I can fool Dave38 and 6 other people on the internet. Buss, being an intelligent guy, should have no problem with that. Maybe I will just buy a $5000 Buss while I am there and post the pic here and say it is my cue and took me 3 hours to build.
BTW, Jim Buss is a great guy - full of honest stories, integrity and maker of real cues.

If you want my address to send the camera and tripod to, let me know and I can PM it to you. I do plan on sending the cue to Tony Z when I am done for his inspection and opinion. He can keep it for as long as he likes to judge the warping, flaking, and whatever else you might think will go wrong with it. Tony is also a decent guy.

Watchez = maker of the Ragu cue.

You played this entire thread like a poker hand, I think you might have actually kept the upper hand for the whole thread too!

Nice cues Michael. Good classic look and they look as if you didn't use the full splice blank method. Even better.

I am a big fan of pink ivory. I wonder if Tony Z sent me any for my Ragu cue.

Michael, if you want to send me one of your cues to examine and help with my project, that would be great as well.

Mike,

This thread and ones like are why I stay away for weeks at a time.

Just got your PM, no luck with the press yet. I have two in sight just have to win one.

Great things about forums - they are like TV - you can choose what you want to read (see).

But if this was a TV show, it would be very highly rated. Now the 18th most viewed thread of this forum of all time.

What part of Brooklyn you from Paul? I am Brooklyn born - Canarsie - grew up on East 84th St between Faragut and Flatbush. I could go for some Lenny & John's pizza right now.

Thank you, I like the classic, I have chosen the short splice instead of the full splice, I only prefer to work with what I build. I was never happy with my full splice.

How does one go about getting a locked thread, unlocked?
Watchez,
About the 'personal attacks' you started to sling them left and right at some respected and very well meaning people, for no reason, and that is something I really don't care for, and will speak out on. It's funny how you can dish it out but something comes back at you, you cry foul? Now your playing nice, but to late for that in my book, not that it matters to you. Remember, first impressions never go away. Enjoy your free cue parts, and try not to hurt yourself, or lose any bodyparts in the process. And I must say, the best thing you did say in this whole thread was how Tony's a decent guy, as he is, and so are the other ones you insulted.
As far as my part of this 'experiment' is to bow out, I don't come here to debate or play games with the likes of you, especially in the "ask the cuemaker' section. The main forum is the place for that, IMO. I come here to learn and share with people who have the same interests as me. I wouldn't send you even a piece of chalk.

Dave, did you or someone else actually send him some cue parts?
I thought that was all a big joke.
